Plentiful thunder, lightning and rain for the past 45 minutes. Seems to be moving off NNE now, enjoy those about to get it, it's a good one:)

Oh my word!!! What a storm!!??

I have just been outside watching the wonderful flashes of lightning around me and suddenly the heavens opened titanically!

Fork lightning flashes every other second, with a constant rumbling of thunder.

Loving it!!!

Off to clear the drains before I flood!!

Take care all!

Wow now that was a good storm. And just to think the main show is tomorrow night into sat. Had two really close lightning strikes. And at one point it looked like power lines were flickering to my se as there was an orange flickering glowing

The most amazing fork lightning here for the last half hour. Lacking in rain and would have liked more thunder. Must be over now as Gatwick flying again.

Possibly the best lightning storm in a good 5 or so years around here, even better that it was at night! The shelf cloud was insane here, clearly defined I am wondering if this was severe or not?

Not over just yet either! I got some great photos on the iPhone courtesy of that brilliant shelf cloud. Looked like an alien invasion, almost!

It was unbelievable, I saw a bolt of lightning bead out as well. Some really close strikes, the ones that blind you. Its moved north of me but I can still hear it booming away in the distance. âš¡âš¡âš¡âš¡âš¡

The next clump of thunderstorms are heading through SE London now, with the East of the capital next in line!

A superb storm, and as Mesoscale says, better than any storm in years. What fun.

Wooooooooooooooow!

Cracking storm! Some of the best lightning I have seen in this country. Very close strikes here....lots of cloud to cloud and ground.

This was not even expected!

Well that was some storm, woke me up at 01:45 and I've been hanging out of the window since. It's still flashing away to my N and E. Impressive strike rate (lightning every 2-3 seconds for much ofvthe time), some beautiful forks and some needed rain. Best nighttime storm for years and funny that it wasn't even forecast for us!

Edit: Looks like more storms building to our SW!!

And there's a new clump of activity building over the IOW.

The click counter really does sound like morse code... Anyone out there in NetWeatherland that can see if they are trying to communicate??  :help:
