I thought funnel clouds and tornadoes happened on a weekly basis in the storm capital of England! (Lincolnshire) :D

open back door, check heavy cloud and humidity. Phone goes Forget  door is open, sudden heavy shower, get back to kitchen, puddle on floor. Oh the joys.

Considering the performance of the met, not unexpected either :)

The storms in south essex Basildon and Benfleet were from about 5pm til about 9pm , 3 of them too, they were pretty correct, very little rain , lots of lightning and thunder though :)

yea. Here in Chatham there was a lot of thunder, like every 30 seconds. it only went on for about 20-30 mins. the rumbling became pretty loud like there really was a storm coming, then it just stopped... bummer! that was just after 20:00.

I wouldn't mind a storm that goes through the night, you know those proper imported storms!

Starts at about 8 and goes on till 3am in the morning and covers the e,se

A friendly request to refrain from 'met office bashing' as the site team are getting reports from members about these posts. Yes, it's frustrating when the weather doesn't produce the goods, but let's not let frustrations spill over needlessly....thanks everyone  :good:

Tall Cb over Braintree/Colchester way. Sky is black underneath. Looks ominous.

EDIT: Looks to be producing some sferics now and heard distant thunder.

Here are some images of the cell that passed by - only saw one lightning flash, just distant thunder, very sporadic. Case of more interesting structure than content, I think. Very warm and humid, I think today was supposed to happen yesterday (I knew I might have to eat my words after my previous 'rant' post!) Torrential rain after the last cell clipped this location, the odd puddle left over from previous rain transformed into huge lakes on the roads which were practically covered in water. Beginning to rain again as the grey  overcast clears from these storms.

Have posted pics in Storms and Convective Thread 7th July onwards on page 23 for those who are interested. Some lovely cloudscapes today :)
