Scrapped the golf course this afternoon, for a game of top-golf in Chigwell. Got there and teed off at three. At around 3.45 torrential downpour a bit of thunder, but saw the most impressive cc lightening. Lasted for all of 10 minutes, but was good while it lasted, and gave me a few minutes to practice we rusty golf swing ;-)

Yes, not a good place to be during a thunderstorm, out in the open, surrounded by trees and holding a metal golf stick!

Tuesday

Posted Image

Moderate to fresh westerly flow

Showers probably not as widespread as today

Posted Image

There could be a rumble of thunder or two from some of the showers

Temperatures - 19-21C

Wednesday

Posted Image

Moderate west/north westerly flow.

We have an occluded front which could well bring more organised bands of showers. Likelihood of thundery downpours is low though.

Temperatures - A little warmer at 20-23C

Thursday

Posted Image

Light to moderate westerly flow.

This looks more like it, the chance of slow moving thundery downpours moving west to east in organised bands. Probably the best day of the week for storms.

Temperatures - 19-22C

Glad many got a decent return today, got diddly squat here

Think the South Downs have been protecting me so far today, been watching the radar and all the downpours/thunderstorms have been skimming me!

Just had a couple of short showers pass through, 25c!

Lassie with all due respect if you are going to post temperatures, the least you could do is recalibrate or resite whatever equipment it is you are using to record them because they are way off the mark, and have been for some time.

That's his £5.99 Argos weather station, may have a tough time recalibrating that!  ;)

12.7c here in Benfleet

You said it EE, Bluebreezer is welcome to come to my house and give it a go! 15.3c

Lassie, I was being serious. You have been reporting temperatures several degrees above those being reported by a number of weather stations in this area, including official Met Office sites for some time now. It's quite possible that your thermometer or whatever equipment you are using is wrongly sited.

It really is from Argos and cost £5.99! Couldn't really afford anything more sophisticated at the time! Might get something better in the future! Been in northwood quite a bit lately, not a bad place!

Fair do's but reporting spurious/inaccurate weather conditions are really not helpful are they ?

Or better yet, don't report them at all unless you know they are accurate within a reasonable tolerance. If the max at a Met Office station near you is reporting 22c, don't say its 25c where you are because that's just worthless. Not having a go, just trying to give you some ( hopefully ) helpful guidance.
