Thunder and lightning here now, turning very dark, it's almost here.

the line  of storms  now heading  to   east/se  could easily produce some tornadoes as the color going a deeper purple

Getting brighter here in beds/cambs and a slight breeze, looks like we may miss all the action?

Nothing mentioned by the beeb yesterday for storms this morning

Can they really get it wrong two days on the trot?

A gentle storm just rumbled through here, it's been quite a year for me, 17 storms now and most of August still to go   :)

You're a member of a weather forum where some very good descriptive forecasts are given with excellent links. Why do you even bother looking at tv weather forecasts?

The text forecasts on the BBC have mentioned heavy and thundery rain since about Thursday or Friday for today. That's what we are experiencing right?  :cc_confused:

what forecast were you watching?

all the ones I saw mentioned potential storms, heavy rain and wind gusts along the south coast of the UK, with these moving up and across the UK as a whole, with some areas seeing significant storm and rain, AFAIK they got it all right.  May not be in your back yard, is that the issue?

Need the lights on indoors. Three flashes and bangs now its just rumbling in distance. Short sharp downpour easing a bit.

I think the sun is trying to come out. That's me, stuck in the non stormy zone. Good olde Bedford.

that explains a few things Neil....as it stood yesterday morning, the general concensus not just on the BBC forecasts but on most weather forums were for wind and rain with isolated thundery showers following on behind. Yesterday evening, the BBC forecasts were updated, as was the Met Office, as indeed were the likes of Estofex, UKWW, Netweather, TORRO & Skywarn for the increased risk of more severe weather especially a more potentially severe convective element to the forecasts....This region is getting pretty much exactly what was forecast 12-18 hours ago  :)

Fraid so, I am in the same path of weather as you and nowcasting (radar) shows it mainly passing either side of us.
