Massive downpour in Rayleigh in Essex around 1pm, one of the most impressive rainstorms I've seen, there was no real lead up period to the heavy rain, just went from dry to biblical rain in seconds with almost instant flash flooding. Very strong winds as well which blew a tree over on our road and littered the place with leaves and twigs.Plenty of thunder and lightning as well though most was quite distant.

That was pretty intense wasn't it? I measured 25mm or rain from that one storm alone. Currently another tracking SW through Billericay, I can see the lightning and hear the thunder from Basildon, I suspect it might turn into a proper beast!!

Amazing how what was  a large area of rainfall has shrunk so quickly as it split and divided.

So far 6.5mm and 11 visible lightning strikes. The flowers are already perking up.

The first storm I had was pretty potent, the rest haven't had much lightning or thunder, but now my NE is getting darker and darker!

nah think it will all fade as the heating element called the sun would of gone to bed.. thats why the storm hitting me now has now gone very quite and just rain at mo

Oh ok I don't really know much I thought with the surface heating and what not lol. But it's for a more educated opinion that I entered. These forums so thank you. :)

A little rain falling here. Now was that a long distant rumble or a plane? Rain getting heavier.

wasn't forecast anything stormy, and the forecast for my area was correct. So I can't moan really.
