It wasn't that big up here in Milton Keynes. No wind, but heavy rain.

Shame there wasn't that much lightning, as what I watched was good (that passed over). The storm to the east looked more active but was just out of direct eye shot.

That was the best storm in years. Almost had a direct hit but missed my house by a few yards.

Estofex Level 2 issued for Friday night  for us Wouldve been a level 3 Yikes but not certain yet :)

http://www.estofex.org/

The focal point of the threat should travel northward across the English Channel and may well affect southeastern England during the 00-06 UTC time frame. Because of this uncertainty, an level 3 was not issued at this time.

Thanks Anything. I now have the app.

I was wishing for my camera earlier, but it was downstairs and I was too afraid to get it. The intercloud action was almost tropical.

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
