Heaviest of the rain seems to have gone north and south of us, we're in the little bit between the two heavy patches.

Make the most of it, you could be uncomfortably hot next week!

Promise!?  :)

The sun is out here!

I'm in the wrong bit of London. It's still raining and miserable here  :(

It's a possibility, if the BBC say it is going to happen, then it probably wont! I actually wanted more rain, it has done the garden a lot of good!

No rain just moody weather (cloudy) all most packed anyone would think we r going for a month amount kids have packed !

Don't forget to pack the kids!

Incessant rain all day, up to 10mm now. We had an enormous clap of thunder about 12, I checked the lightning radars and it appears to be the only strike in the uk today! Bizarre.Cabbie took me to orpington station in the deluge. The station is flooded, but cabbie said that the weather was beautiful around heathrow.

Yea, we had that one giant clap of thunder too at midday but it went on for so long, I convinced myself it wasn't thunder at all but building work somwhere.

We appear to have had some hail. Wasn't expecting that.

It's rained most of the day here, though it has dried out in the last couple of hours. Can see blue sky to the north west, will it ever make it here?

Positively autumnal here rain and breezy.

Noticed the hawthorns are loaded with berries which are turning red, in fact it feels more like late August than early July. Suppose last week's 3 or 4 days of fine weather was 'summer' for another year.

The front of the band has arrived here now with light rain, I assume the heavy stuff is on it's way. band seems to be moving through much more quickly.

That's a funny term for Mick Jagger, or was it another band like Led Zeppelin? They're definitely heavier than the Stones...

Just bored out of my mind, nothing on TV, nothing worth doing today and I can't even pig out as it's a fast day on my 2:5 diet — might take up smoking again. :wallbash:

After a short walk into town (only takes ten minutes) and a quick shop before returning home was finding it very warm going, today has been very warm and humid here pretty much all day, no rain.  I did note when checking the radar earlier that the line of rain was straight up from the channel, through London and north passing west of the wash in to the NE and moving eastwards, I was just to the west of the line so avoided it.

Is there any folklore about loaded hawthorn berries and winter? Still dry here, hazy sunshine! Got a Police helicopter hovering directly above my house, flying real low and making a racket!

Still very warm and close feeling here, some scattered cloud leaving big gaps for plenty of very warm sunshine, low twenties for the temps here at a guess (online reading is 21oC) but my home based sensor needs new batteries (weekend job there).

Your garden is finally getting a decent watering by the sounds of things! Will that rain make it further west I wonder?

Just realised it can rain as much as it likes, but my hanging baskets are protected by the leeward side of the house so remain dry. Still the lawn, veggies and bushes are getting a nice drink.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
