Huge flashes to the west of High Wycombe - beautiful. Anything from 5 seconds to two minutes between flashes.

edit: sorry - I meant west! I forgot which flat I was in!!

Increasing cloud here making it virtually impossible to see any more flashes - plus the models seem to have nailed this if the radar is anything to go by...booooo!!!

I criticised the MetO for their convective forecasting the other day, and today's yellow zone is but further evidence of their weakness in this area of forecasting.

Anyway, enough of that...will gawp for another little while before departing for bed...not looking great for here sadly.

Winds really picking up here again and it smells like rain, everything electrical is 50-60 miles to the west or south of here. Hoping the precipitation to my north develops as it pushes south eastwards. fingers crossed and anything else I can cross as well  :fool:

Wow, probably the most frequent lightning I've seen in the UK.

Heavy rain now and frequent flashes/rumbles to the W of Marlow

Come back in to watch the rest of the footie...can't see any more flashes as too much cloud cover now.

Remarkably I have gone out in the garden and have seen bright flashes from what must be that cell over Reading-way!  Stars above me, gentle warm breeze, a few small cumulus floating past lit up by the moonlight.

Wow wow wow. This is insane. The lightning is so frequent that the security lights around my hall keep turning off, they think it's daytime! This rivals some of the storms I saw in the US for lightning frequency.
