Storm and convective discussion 9th June

Recommended Posts

One faint flash and quite a loud distant rumble here so far. Most of the good stuff is over to the east as usual.

Dodged most of it here a per normal. Going through the weakest part of the storms even at my work address. Yup some thunder but fairly weak stuff. 4.6mm of rain so far.

some very un-UKlike pics of these storms appearing everywhere. I thought I was looking at something taken in Birmingham Alabama, but then I realised it was Birmingham England. So very Jealous!

I've got my eyes on the cell thats between Nottingham and Mansfield at the moment. If it takes a similar path to the big one just to the SSW of me now, then I'm going to get a direct hit...

Really good storm here, i caught some intense development on film, flash flooding everywhere, water just spewing out of the roads and cascading off the fields!

Not much visible lightning although i did see 2 or 3 CGs

Will get pics and maybe video uploaded soon

I'm waiting for any developments.. ~ we could get lucky later! :) I set up a livestream just in case

I think the only way to tell would be finding out which direction that road is facing and where the sun was at the time. Very difficult indeed.

The location is Woodend Avenue near Hunts Cross, heading south towards Liverpool Airport - at the time we had a brief light shower pass through the area.

The cell I'm looking at has recycled and is going to pass between Doncaster and myself. I may nip out for a closer look

I have to admit. I think things east of Derby in line from Hull right down to Brighton is where the storm activity will be for the rest of the day. I suspect all areas west could have quite a nice and dry afternoon.

Wait did you say Brighton?? The activity will spread right down here?

I sat and watched the right hand edge of this lowering as it approached me, it was rapidly developing right infront of me.

Then the rain bands moved closer could see them on the fields, incredible!

Not really sure what i was watching but i managed to get into a perfect place and i was loving it haha!

Anyway, its thundering again here now from a smaller cell, i will edit and upload a video later today!

Thanks
