In the last two hours 23,772 strikes.... Mind blowing :bomb: :bomb: :bomb: :bomb: :bomb: :bomb:

For those too lazy to do the math, thats roughly 198 strikes PER MINUTE...and at least 3 PER SECOND.

...mental.

That is totally ON topic!

Totally more on topic than all the Germany/Paris chatter (albeit fantastically impressive stuff granted!!)Just chugging along the M25 - 17C outside, not a lot happening. Pleasing seeing the odd cell pop up though :-)

Jawoll, vee take zat, but only 0.5 points for our UK players, to make 1 point you need bigger hail, ja?  :acute:

Ok, enough off topic, there is something I wanted to point out a while ago already: for those living on the south and east shores there might be a possibility of spotting sprites or blue jets in the troposphere above these cells over the continent. Night vision binocs would be excellent aid. Here more:

It seems to happen all the time in my location! Admittedly not under a huge storm like the one in Germany right now. But certainly they divide either to the left of London and curve up round to Norfolk or elsewhere, or they track up on the other side of Ipswich, along the coast and up to the North Sea. Very frustrating! Am radar watching tonight to see if something does target here, for once.

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
