A cloud spotters dream out there. Cirrostratus undulatus cloud, altocumulus cloud and now some altocumulus castellanus cloud.

I'm holding you personally responsible that as I was trying to sleep last night 'altocumulus castellanus' kept going round in my head keeping me awake. :p

I think I may be in the firing line of a supercell...

I live just to the top of the 'red zone', and its tracking that way....

A Possibility need to be watched closely, other cells in the area are dying electrically and on the live lightning plotter there does seem to be a distinct rightward shift on the cell lightning wise, had been moving north eastwards for a long time.

So basically altocumulus cloud just shows possible rain coming but not really thundery?

As a rule of thumb, but AcCas does necessarily mean thunder, in the same way absence of it doesn't mean there wont be.

Looking good for the SE later, if i didn't have work I would drive down there (yes, I am mental)

I really wouldn't bother...I live here and I think our chances are only 15-20% absolute max.

Even if there is any thundery outbreaks, in particular MCS, it is common for the electrical stuff to keep to the E portions of it, so you'd either need to be Dover way or in the Channel, in which case you may as well leave now and head for Brussels, lol

Do we have any close range models out yet?

no t or l but very heavy rain just a few minutes ago, 80mm p hr for maybe 45 secs

total so far this morning is around 10mm

dropped T from 20.7 to 16.2

one problem of being deaf, my neighbour just called and commented on the 3 rumbles of thunder very close, they saw no lightning though, so I suppose that is a strom for me. Does explain why my number of observations of storms has decreased over the years!!

also confirmed by looking at my post code data on Net Wx radar, one over the top at the heaviest downpour.

Nothing of note here one rumble in the last hour and a brief spell of heavier rain which missed my home address. Just past s89en into netweather extra and watch the storms and showers skirt round bar one brief hit right at the beginning.

From TORRO on Facebook about 25 minutes ago, suggesting 'A pronounced hook on this cell near Doncaster suggests low-level rotation - the risk of strong winds and perhaps a tornado as the cell moves quickly NNE.'

Hopefully the link works for at least those who have facebook, not completely sure though.

Nina Ridge's 1pm BBC forecast does not mention the 't' word once nationwide, just 'showers'  :cc_confused:

For me, that's the best omen yet  :clapping:

They're beginning to take shape now,  and will continue to develop all through the afternoon. I can't guarantee you'll get something, but generally, it'll be within these lines..

The BBC have a strange reluctance to mention thunderstorms. It's either heavy/thundery showers or thundery rain.

Who ever said the English were mad we're totally wrong, the French appear to be bonkers. Watching the live webcam on Le Havre beach and there are nutters walking about clutching umbrellas with CG Lightning coming down
