ok, lightning archive from midnight - midday today, quite impressive, and just goes to show that this plume event generally was far from a bust with nearly 8000 sferic detections for the 12 hour period

Starting to brighten now and clouds starting to break. Will have to see what this does for the rest of the day but pleased the rain has come to an end for now.

Ah, when did that happen - Met Office have removed all weather warnings for the South/central.

Gone very dark here again and some ragged looking cloud coming through.

Oh yeah   Clearly not confident of anything sparking off.

Maybe, because the warnings are removed, it's now guaranteed to be interesting?

I don't power the damn thing I just want to kill it.

The only time it fails is when a storm develops locally this side of Dronfield.

Weirdest cold front I've ever experienced - it's warmer and more humid feeling than before it went through!!!

Stunning day though, crystal clear blue skies now, temperature rocketing...just a shame potential here for storms has wiped out.

Wow it's hot and humid out now! Definitely the plume is upon us! If the potential could be tapped into and surface based storms do fire up they could be good! I fear the cap maybe too strong but you never know.

It seems that every lightning strike and storm has missed Doncaster... :D, heard a fair few rumbles, but nothing else.

looking at the lightning map its funny how places like sheffield who think they have a storm shield seem to hold true, See, its not  paranoia its there to be seen , time and time again,. notice the void in the line of sferics between manchester and liverpool, yup that would be thunder free wigan!  the amount of times this happens is getting tiresome

you're not wrong H......I've been under clear skies for about 2 hours now and the temps have risen to 23c and feeling distinctly humid

That's what I think. Suddenly gone more humid which is a good sign.

Its 17 degrees here, and the cold front is about 10 miles south of me.. Think it'll get pretty muggy soon.

Much higher level altocumulus castellanus cloud today and not as big or pronounced but still it's present which is interesting.

Got a decent storm here with thunder/lightning and torrential, only 20 minutes this morning but that will do. Even chased it between Benfleet and Chelmsford :)

On the V4 radar it's still showing cape especially in the east. I think we need to watch closely these areas cause if the cap does break then possibly storms could develop quickly due to the capped energy build up. Definitely got heat and humidity on our side. Radar at 13.55.
