If anyone has been following the lightning maps and saw Paris explode, here is why...

Lucky Buggers...

Looking at other internet pictures of this storm it is as good structurally as some of the storms that the teams are chasing in the US.

Is it a common yearly thing for France and Germany to get large storms like this? Never really looked into it

Not been a bad weekend here. There's been more thunder and lightning today and yesterday than all of last year put together. This afternoons storm produced really gusty winds on it's back edge along with pea sized hail.Yesterdays storms were pretty short lived but still produced heavy rain and decent rumbles of thunder.

I'm thinking that Netweather could do well with having a Euro storm chasing trip based on the last few weeks!

I'm in :D

Evening.Getting increasingly dark to the south of cleethorpes right now. Towers to the west also. Awaiting with bated the breath..........feels close and humid.Regards.

Well,. Saw the first flash to the northwest of me then the pager went and we got launched to sightings of red flares. As we were going along the beach to the tide edge the bolts were pretty awesome towards the Immingham area. The clouds were unbelievable once heading to the sighting location like nothing I have ever seen. As we reached the area of search some 3 miles away at humberston we.could see cleethorpes disappeared within the monsoon yet we were dry. The lightning was quite incredible as the storm headed out to sea. Can still hear the occasional rumble now as the cloudscape out to sea looks even more spectacular. Still very muggy here. Awesome rainbow as we returned though. As for the red flare report, turns out someone was having a party on the holiday parks and launched them........I won't.use the bad langauge to describe my thoughts. Let me see if I can suss out how to put pics on as I have one of us recovering against the backdrop.Regards.

Can make out flashes every second or two on the Eifel Tower webcam.. Also this webcam only updates every 3 seconds but a reasonable amount of the images are capturing lightning: http://www.meteo-paris.com/ile-de-france/webcam-paris.htmlMust be an amazing show over there, wish I could find a live streaming webcam facing the storm.

Hmm, my rubber dinghy might not be big enough for all of us :D

Meanwhile, still some storms rumbling on in the NE! As well as off the coast between Grimsby and Scarborough.

Strange that the lightning app is showing another storm approaching Paris, but the main Eifel Tower cam isn't showing anything
