Looking south towards London, I can see some cumulus going up, lets hope they can break through the cap.

A torrential downpour hitting north Bristol currently.

A couple of claps of thunder heard along with some biblical rainfall rates. Beats yesterday's duff muff hands down!

Does anyone know about the chances for tonight that people have been talking about for the last few days?

I would keep expectations low! I wasn't aware of any potential for our region until I saw Tomasz Schafernakers earlier forecast. The 4pm MetO maintains the signal for some convective and intense looking downpours tonight.I'm struggling to find other models agreeing with this outcome. Furthermore, any downpours which do form might not necessarily be electrified.Makes it a bit more interesting though for this evening and overnight

Glad to see cells on the map and some folks are getting a storm or two. Back here in MK there has been a lot of very nice defined convection this afternoon, but the upper winds appear to be very strong, with all towers getting to a certain height then being ripped apart by the upper winds before they can top out and become glaciated.

Don't give up faith, you had and still have a higher chance than me of getting something.

lol I don't want anything, especially not light to moderate rain. It's ruined such a great day!

Well I heard one clap of thunder.. but the storm went 4-5 miles west of here. To be honest, the thundery rain we had/having today is what I expected yesterday morning. Sadly the violent thunderstorm caused the death of a family friends pet cat. ~ The cat never liked thunderstorms.

Moderate heavy rain coming from the stuff that just went through Bristol. No T&L tho - looks like it has weakened as it came my way.

I think there's a low chance of storms tonight/early hours in the south east, had lots of alto cumulus today which we didn't have on Friday and also plenty of mackeral skies this evening! Better chance than Fri/Sat

Same here VM - just gone out for a smoke and definite Ac fields and nice mackerel sky - can't see any AcCas however.

I always get that gutted feeling when it gets fresher! That's when you know the worst is over!

Yeah but sometimes it's a good thing especially as it's been quite humid here recently.

So where does thunder come from if no lightning ????

It's very high level lightning and with there still being a lot of light at the moment, it is not very easy to see except at night.

Can't wait for that stuff in the channel to hit Dorset, interesting prospects from then on as it encounters peak heating.Cap around here is weakening all the while with towers shooting up

Drizzle.
