That's good news! The lightning still looks like it's about 45-50 miles away, but I can just hear a constant very low-pitched rumble in te air. Hopefully the storm's arrival is imminent.

It did move through here pretty quick but gave a decent display not seen lightning as good as that for a long time.

yes, that's my view of it it too. The rain is hanging around though. Can't complain at seeing 8ish good cc strikes before 8am. Today could be a great day.

Crack every minute or so here, not overhead though - all to the west and distant grumbles.

hardly arrived with you yet

Sorry, I should point out I'm at work close to Birmingham and the M5...right where the cells were passing virtually up the M5. We looked to be smack bang underneath but the thunder wasn't really as intense as i thought. I believe the next port of call is Stafford and Stoke....shame I'm not leaving until 9.30!

Cells are moving NNW are they? Didn't notice that, I'm even more optimistic in that case then.

Looks to be a shelf-cloud on the way here, so close, here's hoping things hold up

Almost done and dusted here now. Reasonable storm but nothing overhead. Hope for something later, not optimistic though.

A-mazing. Really glad I drove all the way from Scotland and stayed up all night. Was in Somerset earlier to meet it and, leaving that, ran straight underneath the development on the east side that is now the cluster rumbling northward through the West Mids. Best storm Ive seen since the 90s. Will post a link to some pics (hopefully got some worthwhile ones!) later on.

Supacell if your still on and not out chasing yet, it was worth it! (Also glad I sat tight and didnt head east too early!)

Am i right in thinking that this band of storms currently moving NNW is going to pass over and then more are going to develop later this morning?

It's funny you should say about a low rumble. I have just nipped out to the shop and thought I was imagining it. I am in Stretford and we often get planes landing or taking off rumbling by but it wasn't that.Getting darker by the second here.

Very short intense storm with plenty of lightning just passed over here, just north of peterborough. A nice display on the way to work until I hit the rain and struggled to see anything!

So mega jealous...all I can hear is the sound of diverted aircraft at high altitude (not good). Humid air still insitu with dark clouds to my south and west but radar showing this to be no more than a dying meh!

Clearly the zone for destabilisation has now past well to the north. All that is moving north in France is frontal decaying mess.

Sounds like some pretty awesome stuff north of hear, radar looks crazy
