Hi guys,

Seen the great offer on this, and as a 23-year old graduate with a massive interest in tornadoes, I'm considering giving this a go. What sort of know-how do you need to go on a tour? Do you need any specialist equipment, and are you based in the same place each night or do you move around to different overnight halts based on the storm activity?

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi Mike

Firstly , you do  not need any know how because we are there to do the necessary. If you have an interest in tornadoes/weather/storms that is enough.  As for specialist equipment all you need to bring is anything you want to use to take photos or video.  You can bring a laptop but not totally necessary.

We start in  Dallas and will head where ever there is the best potential for severe storms. At the end of each day we find a motel , hopefully near to where we are. Occasionally we drive towards the target area for the following day.

To give you an idea. One year we left Dallas and chased storms around Oklahoma City. The next day we chased around Ardmore Oklahoma. Last year we found ourselves heading from Dallas to the Oklahoma/Kansas border and then into Kansas/Nebraska/Texas and then  New Mexico.

We saw some lovely storms.

Whilst chasing we eat fast foods but do occasionally find time to eat properly, steak is always eaten when we see a tornado, unless you are vegetarian,

We have fun.

Tom has pretty much covered it above tbh, we have what I believe to be one of the best teams in the world currently chasing in Tornado Alley with over 50 Cumulative years experience between us and if you look at the stats we have been joint top or in fact the best for tornado numbers over the past few years from Worldwide Tour Groups.

We typically cover 4,000 Miles on an average 10 day trip and Tour 1 last year covered 13 States in 10 Days (Not for the Faint Hearted) but we all get along and muck in, you will learn sooo much in those action packed 10 days from why we target the areas, how to chase the storms and how Supercell Thunderstorms work.

Last year Netweather witnessed a career best 27 Tornadoes over the 4 Tours taking my personal tally to 109 Career Tubes!

Some Highlights of last year can be seen on my blog, but a few pictures of Supercells and Tornadoes below, not long now at just over 100 days until it all starts and with a La Nina expected to persist another active Season is expected!

I'm with Nick L, I'm getting excited as well.  May actually get to see some good storm action down here this weekend as I'm heading up to northern NSW to go camping for the Australia Day long weekend and the weather in the region has been a bit ferocious this week, with lots of storms and hail about.  Just hope my tent doesn't float away in a flash flood though, that wouldn't be good   :blink2:

Thanks guys! I booked Tour 1! Still hasn't sunk in that I'm going but so excited. Been recommended insurance, so I will look at that and flights this weekend. I am in the Manchester region. Is anyone else flying from Manchester for Tour 1 or is is it best to go from London Heathrow instead?

Very much looking forward to my first ever chase!
