glad you did not miss out supercell.  One this morning although few storms it was the only thing which lit up here.  Like Scott strange clouds but some impressive cloud formations here.

Could there been drain there.  Can only think there was small rotation otherwise did feel wind.

Yes there is a drain there but couldn't tackle all the rain that just fell + all the water was running off a bank on the other side of the road.

I was hoping to see a storm today but wasn't expecting anything quite of that intensity. Looking back at the radar I think I was quite lucky as Abbots Bromley looked to be in the core of the northern cell (there was another one further south closer to Birmingham). Did you get the hail and rain?

Yes the northern one was pretty much a direct hit here, the southern one slipped to the south and west. It was a nice little storm, the rain was very intense for about 10 minutes as the core passed over. Hasn't rained like that for a while, not since El Brumo - although that was an entirely different kettle of storm. Some of the CG and Fork lightning as it head over towards Cannock was mighty impressive.

Its a 3 minute walk to the pub, dry when I walked out of the door, suddenly the heavens opened up, I was drenched! Proper torrential downpour, roads like rivers etc.. Looked at the radar, nothing more than moderate echo's .. The radar can be very deceiving.

Posted from the pub, looking like I fell in the river. :

Here's the culprit..

There was some good convection here before the cruddy rain arrived. Once them parcels started to rise, there was no stopping them!

Was woken up in the early hours by a rumble of thunder just to my north.

Had some further heavy showers already this morning and i'm pleased to say that the

low cloud/drizzle and murk has finally cleared away. :)

What's the conveactive outlook for today and tomorrow across the central & east Midlands like? When are we next at risk from heavy/thundery rain/possible thunderstorms?

Cheers

Black to my east, first rash of showers heading north, seems a good chance for me later today, but this has been the same for a lot of the week!

met office seem to have more persistant rain moving in from the east from tuesday onwards according to their forecast on the website warnings already issued for some eastern areas

edit - just saw latest news 24 forecast they have showers moving north tomorrow looked more concerntrated on the eastern side of the country but some going through central parts they also seem to indicate pretty cloudy as well

getting warmer for the se tomorrow but pretty much the same elsewhere

must admit getting a bit fed up with this pattern

Not convinced myself, warm maybe some showers but I'd be surprised if there was much electrical activity. As ever would love to be wrong

I would hope if there is anywhere most likely to see something thundery today its down here! Sea/wind convergence here setting up a stationary line of showers. Some threatening skies around and already had some heavy rain so will be interesting to see if anything more occurs.

Looks very quiet at the minute in western europe, however to the east it's going nuts, storms in nearly every eastern country. Down in MK today it's lovely and sunny with a temp of 16'c and rising, if it wasn't so windy i'd be tempted to bust the bbq out later.
