Some showers having the afront to look at the Sheffield shield. No doubt will be duly shredded and then reform to the north. One thing the shield can't cope with is showers that build up inside the shield. Instead of bottling them up inside the shield it lets them escape to easily.

Can see a clearance of this mucky cloud to the southeast now. Blue sky and some nice cauliflower clouds on the the horizon :)

Huge raindrops, hail and an enormous crack of thunder just now in MK, sky is black as hell.  :yahoo:

Numerous rumbles here now and bangs, wind is very strong and gusty trees swaying and getting blown everywhere.

Hopefully that won't be the case today ;) Sun is coming out here, and we have a rash of moderate/heavy showers to the SE. I have a good feeling that the timing of these showers will lead to some thunder today :)

Hmm passing already, about 2 bangs 4 rumbles, 20 seconds of hail and very heavy rain. Looking at the radar it was very localised right over the top of MK, perhaps the UHI effect kicked it into gear, gone quiet now as i'm typing. Oh well short but sweet

Been close today in terms of thunder but no cigar. However, the sun is out now here and its a steamy 13.4°C so we might get something....

Popped out to the shops just a few minutes ago. As the storm system clears to the north there's quite an impressive and clearly defined cloud structure to it's weeble end.

Is that likely to be all we get for today in London? The Beeb forecast seems to indicate that's the case?
