The MCS looks tasty! If it's elevated it should be able to get over the Channel.

Meanwhile, the Met Office refuses to acknowledge any of this. Certainly not their finest hour.

I can safely say the sky is literally glowering here - it's so still you could hear a pin drop... going to let the range die down, sense powercuts if we get a storm!

Don't loose hope in the south east look at the stuff over Le Mans in France heading straight to Brighton

absolutely Tom, the plume is de-stablizing readily over France and into southern counties....MLCAPE pretty high in those areas with high moisture content in the mid levels, so all to play for this evening/overnight

If it makes it then great - ITV were plumping with dry and warm southeast and indeed all day tomorrow. It's a pretty much unbroken line in France, fingers crossed for something tonight

Two popcorn type thunderstorms rolled through here...pretty fast movers as well. Noticeably cooler now.

Nowt here though, except for one distant rumble. Looks like the next cell will follow a similar track before it all clears up for now.

I'm not convinced we'll get a glimpse of it but we'll see.

I know I aimed it mainly at the chap from Ellesmere Port who kept saying they had no chance of a storm today!

Hmmm do we think the MCS will gain strength as it makes landfall?

I doubt it would make it this far north in any case but..

Nope. Cooling off rapidly here now and lots of cloud cover. Probably the best chance in 10-15 years for us here and still nothing. The Cheshire Storm Shield never fails. Not being pessimistic, that's just how things run around here.

Hope you got your storm against all odds :)

Is this what happens when we don't have a cold snowy winter?
