Not 100% convinced we have an MCS as yet...all looks a bit linear to me at this stage.

Doesn't look linear to me Harry. Looks like an MCS to me!

Just need it to keep getting new cells form and absorbed as it heads north.

Doesn't look like we'll get anything here tonight now too far East..Not had a decent storm here since 2009.I even missed that beast that hit Nottingham on 23rd July last year, that time I was too far west by about 6 miles!!.Might start calling this area the "Derby/Denby Dome!!

Why are so many negative ref lack of storms, I mean considering it's still only May I've been happy with the radars today, a good week for storms I think, maybe just a taste of what's to come!

Hi, its an organized group of storms which grow and grow and give thunder and lightning and a lot of other severe weather... :yahoo:

I've got some fantastic, but relatively infrequent lightning way off to my west.

MCS can be used to describe a multicell system (ie many cells absorbed into 1 system). However, sometimes the organisation of these systems can arrange into something stronger known as a mesoscale convective system  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesoscale_convective_system

The one in France is shaping up quite nicely.

Fair play...not to me neither on the basis of that lol.

Need to be careful with these as they often only yield lightning in parts, often the easterly/northeasterly edge (well, in recent years anyway)

The wind is coming from the NW here, but showers moving NW, is this just the storm outflow, or is it wind shear between surface and elevation?
