Am actually really happy with how today is shaping up, should clouds and left over storms move away and destabilisation occur then 2,500jpg of Cape and 40kts of Bulk Shear will easily support Supercell Structures over Iowa and Missouri, was not expecting the 5% Tornado Risk must admit.

This could turn out to be a decent day, Target in the Morning.

Night all after a Mad Mad Day in Nebraska!

Just had a quick look at the models for the first time today and I think my starting point will be Ottumwa in Iowa. Haven't a clue what the chase terrain is like  that far NE mind you - never really looked at a map up there!! And will be prepared to go east from there!

Nice and moist up here! MD for our target. Lovely and humid, and currently raining.

Broadly? North East Missouri/South East Iowa - lots of heating/destabilising potential, and loads of moisture, should support some supercells :plus extras -)

The Lead car is struggling with internet connectivity at the so Paul isn't able to update at the moment (I'm in the rear car with the stream) - apologies for the slightly non- tech updates!

Could be an interesting chase in none familiar terrain, thanks Jo. Good luck. - And hopefully not too long until you are in clear air on the other side of the front! Sfc temp of 81 and DP 65 in Kirksville Iowa in front of you.

Things are just starting to get interesting now with a strongly coupled storm to the teams south and they look in a good position to intercept.

Stream is back up too :)

By the way they are motoring now I suspect that they are on to it and trying to intercept the severely warned cell. It's the first one in their area that has looked interesting.

The front is quite messy, so hopefully they have identified something good.

Yep, look like they're trying to get ahead of that second cell.

Ironically the cell that they are blasting through is also growing

Distinct inflow notch on that second cell - Tornadoraiders are on it.

Have a cell structuring up just behind us, stopped for some epic CGs and now repositioning to see how she shapes up :)

Yesterday didn't quite deliver as much as we'd hoped, but there was some decent structure, insane rain and a spectacular lightning show to end the day as we arrived in Galesburg for the night.

A pano from yesterday shows the early promise, but things guested out and a 900 mile front rumbled on over night

We hit our 7th State of the tour yesterday (on Day 2!), and will probably at least match the record of 9 today as we head south.
