Nah, TonyH, I'm sure there is an incredibly cold, cloudy microclimate around said persons house ;)

At 2:30 temp reached 27.2 but once again cloud rolled in and it's hovered around 25. Sun is partially back out and it's 26.3c

Still scope to go warmer, feeling fairly warm.

Unless you are working hard then it's pretty comfortable out there... I'd say

high so far at polmont station 27.3c so higher than yesterday if it wasn't for that cloud this morning it could have been really special.

After reaching 25.7ºC yesterday with more cloud than Monday, today has been much sunnier here.

Looks like we've hit a maximum of 28.1ºC for the day - properly hot. #smashedit for warmest day of the year so far.

:good:

Just a bit iffy to start with but the sun finally punched through around 11.30am. Reached 25.4c which, I think, was exactly the same as yesterday. I could take this right on through 'till end of August no problem!  (fat chance)

Slow start but eventually turned into another ripper of a afternoon. Sure it's going to turn cooler (a little bit of a relief actually) but should still be dry

Non-whinger fae the 'Deen here! :D

Lovely day here until some threatening cloud turned up about 4pm. I really thought we would get a storm - the clouds had that look - but just some spots in the end. I see the real action was not far south & looking at the sky in that direction I wasn't surprised!

Currently looks like some mist patches, with the wind in off the sea.

Back from a brilliant few days in Stirling then Inveraray. Weather was tremendous. Back in Crail and that storm cell has passed to the NE.

Evening folks! A bit cooler here tonight, we reached the heady temp of 23.6 at home yesterday, and I think it was even hotter at work. Currently 14.9 with the threat of a shower or two, so might at least be able to sleep better tonight!

The high has been perfectly positioned to bring the highest temps to inland Scotland today - its centre parked just to the NW of the country with winds very light and variable - indeed no wind to speak of, but crucially there is a lot of warm tropical air trapped within its circulation, hence the high temperatures. A similiarly placed high which had started life over the mid atlantic or indeed further north would have delivered far lower temperatures - on paper you wouldn't expect such high temps to surface from today's pressure charts.

Scotland often sees the best weather- temp and sunshine wise when high pressure is centred to the NW/North of the country, whereas the SE is exposed to winds and clouds off the N Sea. The best place is a high just to the north of the country with a feed of air from the NE off a warm continent, under such synoptics inland Scotland can see temps above 30 degrees - always quite a difficult feat.

For the UK as a whole the best place for high pressure to centre itself is just to the NE, then preety much the whole country is exposed to fine warm settled conditions, though NW parts can be exposed to cloud. Last July delivered such a positioned high mid month - and preety much everywhere saw at least a few days of temps in the mid 20's with wall to wall sunshine. July 2006 and August 1995 also classic examples of the perfectly positioned summer high!

Agreed. Randomly chose this week as a holiday from work  - what a choice!

Bright and sunny morning in the East Neuk, 17c.

Less humid today but the sun had been out almost from the start. Currently blue skies and 22.3c

All the farmers are getting the silage and haylage in.

From mid-June to mid-July is when hayfever kills me...

not as humid today but still pretty hot out there I was getting a heating system put in today and thought I would sit out back and leave them get on with it well that was a big mistake I'm totally burnt and my neck feels like its on fire.

pretty unbroken sun all day currently 23.7c on the polmont station a little cooler at 20.5c in stirling but they have managed to get as high as 22.1c so still decent temps even though it has cooled off a bit if we had got sun all day yesterday like its been today it would have been a lot warmer but its probably best we had cloud first thing yesterday as it was hot enough.

Morning. A touch more cloud around this morning but still very pleasantly warm at 15.5c. Looks like another very nice day but probably not quite so warm.
