PPN charts aren't too useful in this situation, as Storms can be so localised. One location could see a massive hit, yet 10 miles down the road, you might not even realise there was a storm.

My word, if the thunder is as loud as the sonic boom I heard earlier, I think my heart will pack up! Anyone else hear it ?

The BBC do a good job, but when it comes to Thundery activity and outbreaks, listen to experienced posters on the forum They can go into much more detail and can provide a better summation of the latest charts.

Which posters should I be looking out for?  Sunny, 20.3c!

Afternoon all

Another day at work survived, had to rush back as the plumber was due this afternoon to fix a small leak in the bathroom, took all of five minutes, job done.

Anyway turned out rather nice today, warm and sunny, we are seeing temps in the high teens again, dry and that breeze that picked up a bit yesterday evening has gone.  May have to have a short stroll out to enjoy it a bit further in a while :)

Lovely weather here today. Feeling very warm and sunny. The weather is certainly doing a good job of putting me in a better mood after the shock of last night.

Just seen the weather forecast (bbc) for Saturday. It shows all the hot air flooding into the UK, but the SE missing out on the potential action.

Now looking at the MO website, we are still in the early warning...

Think like snow, storms are a bit of nowcasting type events

hi jax

monday looks pretty good

saturday is a shade tricky as the trough before the cold front

may keep a lot of cloudcover which may hinder the temps needed to really spark the storms off for us

need some time on it and will post later

hope your good

Turned out they got given the go ahead to go supersonic as the Eurofighter Typhoon jets were scrambled from RAF Coningsby to an emergency relating to an aircraft disappearing from air traffic controls radar. It was like a bomb had gone off though! We all was expecting to see a mushroom cloud of rubble and smoke as we rushed to the door at work lol

Jet was low and fast here in the Nene Valley this afternoon too, may have been related then (normally it is low flying training)

Evening all, lovely pleasant day here, lots of sunshine and just some fair weather cloud.

So Saturday, not sure how things will go as at the moment I think we might be in a different situation to most of the UK, the front won't bother us until late on. So any showers might end up being home grown ahead of the front.

My thinking, West cambridgeshire/Norfolk will see the highest chance of thunderstorms, these potentially severe in nature (so large hail, strong winds).

Somewhere in the London/Cambridge area will break the 80F mark on Saturday.

If that isn't enough then Monday could see us doing it all again, and in my opinion might see the better chance of night-time imports from France.
