It seems that us SE'ers seem to have been quite hit and miss. 

 

Whilst thunderstorms were forecast for my area, I got a brief downpour for all of 30 seconds whereas people in London and either side of me seemed to get a storm.

Cracking day here today. Not wall to wall sunshine, but still plenty of sunny spells and warmth. Hope it holds for my sons 5th birthday on Saturday.

sunday should hold for most of the day but will update when the fax charts come in

 

no wind so to speak of so will feel nice all days above ,but expect the usual sea breezes on the coasts hence the slightly lower temps

Those cape charts are great.. If you live north of it.. With a southerly flow we will be the breading ground for further north.. You want to pray we get some decent imports.. Or they spark over the very very near contiant and drift north with the right paraimeters it can be done..

For once, I don't mind tomorrow's lack of wind/rain/lightning/thunder in the forecast, as it should be a lovely evening doing a guided tour of London from the platform of a big red bus. That said, we'll be parked up on Waterloo Bridge for a bit and a thunderstorm travelling up and down the Thames would be fairly spectacular. Doesn't look likely, though!

Anyone (peeps more east of the region) remember last year when that monster storm moved up from France in the morning? It didn't die at all!! Just smashed into Kent and Norwich.. The anvil was so big and it's crud around it was over me 80ish miles west BEAST!

C'mon all, I saw some lovely clouds to the East of me yesterday.  The worst of the rain missed me, but that's showers for you, win some lose some.

'Sizzling heatwave' will scorch Britain THIS WEEKEND  SUMMER is about to arrive in a blaze of glory with temperatures set to hit 80F within days.

 

I see the Daily Express hasn't got any Diana or health headlines today!

The highest forecast temperature I have seen is 24C in London this weekend.

What date was that mate? I remember being in Portsmouth on June 7th and there was a quality storm that survived the entire Channel from Caen/Cherbourg. Was gobsmacked! Even more so that sea temps were like half of what they are at the moment back then after that severe March and April.

Nice day for a visit to the beach for sure! The temps in London are already in the mid teens and my cat has been sunbathing since 7am. Could hit 22c today with even warmer temps over the weekend.  It might get thundery early next week though!

I dunno - I could do with a north sea breeze blowing through my boiling office at the moment - with half the Victorian windows painted shut and with radiators blasting out heat, I can't say I am the most comfortable I have ever been!

 

Still, it's nice to have some settled weather ahead for the coming weekend.

Remember that year when a heat low was smack over the uk and the cap would be broken if it hit 23c. The temps soared to 26C and a huge thunder head could be seen towering upwards towards london. As the evening progressed the storms got worse and ended up in a line as a cold front came across from west to east, storms followed a line south west to north east.

Above 70 °F finally an awful long time this year :DI do not enjoy the humidity and the soaring temperatures,my optimum temp is 22c any higher and it is more of a discomfort.The only positives is that it makes the atmosphere more ripe for storms..

Really?......the south east forecasts for the last few days have been pretty accurate

This. If you look at the wider picture I think the forecasts were pretty much spot on.
