Far too much cloud for anything thundery IMO as I alluded to last night. Still some time yet but the continent is having far more entertainment. Almost every European country seems to be under sunshine and showers today though!!!

The sky is clearing here and the sun is out with drops of rain. A similar set-up to yesterday. Here's hoping. :)

Latest wind arrows suggest convergence of winds over N England this afternoon as models have hinted at, just need the cloud to break long enough to allow some surface warmth to build up some CAPE too and hopefully bang!

A few large breaks in the cloud cover around the mk area forming now. In the clear slots I can see large cumulus congestus forming in the distance.

Hm had a burst of rain here but was not as heavy as that's being made to sound (although I am slightly further east)

Need to keep an eye on that cell in Devon, few reports on UKWW of torrential rain, hail & thunder now. From peoples reports about cloud movement at different layers of cell and the radar return showing a strong circular back edge, I wouldn't be supprised if it was a low topped super cell watching it's track in the last hour. Hopefully someone will get pics.

If it could just move up the M5 to here then I have a camera and camcorder ready haha. Looks as if a bit of backbuilding and frontspreading is going on. Just hope it doesn't lose intensity too much and change track.

MetO keep putting our risk of a shower/storm later and later, gone from 4pm to 8pm now. Big drops been falling, just not warm enough!

just a cloudy , cool feeling grey overcast day, the opposite of a convective  day,

its not happening here again,  despite lightning symbols stuck on the map over us by the bbc,  but they can put them anywhere, means nothing

Seems to be losing intensity a bit already (typical) but moving approximately in our direction.

Bit of late convection around here with the sun out. Not expecting anything given the charts and current radar but sky has been pretty black and stormy looking, with some tallish clouds around.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
