Winter isn't OVER just yet - Britain braced for two week ARCTIC BLAST due the bank holiday

LOL at two weeks, more like 3 days.

Here's my bank hol forecast. (Perhaps a touch premature). Ignoring details, at least the general theme of dry with temps recovering looks decent enough

High pressure looks likely to topple pretty quick by monday, but after a relatively unsettled 1st week of May, i have recently been looking at some signals that suggest high pressure in our vicinity.  These signals being a very strong spike in tendency relative angular momentum as a result of a strong global mountain torque.  This idea is gaining credence somewhat with decent agreement on MJO phase 1 and NWP does seem to now be toying with this idea, albeit in FI.

theres a chance, but south coast is favoured. 

i think for you and i, best chance for storms looks like Thursday. Hope so

Yes Thursday seems to be the storm day according to the storm thread! Had a rumble of thunder on Sunday and one just now but no rain.

Afternoon all

 

Been a damp day here, started very foggy and when that finally lifted the rain took its place instead, not exactly mild either but then again it is not cold by any stretch.

 

Looking at the recent forecasts and output the temps seem to have taken a rollacoaster theme, up and down, tomorrow looks like the warmest day of the coming few days for me, weekend is iffy but not a complete fail by the looks of it, and if we do the car boot this weekend it will be a cool start that is for sure.

I have a wish for sometime this summer. I go out for a ciggie about nine o clock at night, and hear distant rumbles. Then, the ghostly flickering of lightning dancing in the clouds. The rumbles come closer and closer, until.....BOOM! We have a storm that lasts until early hours of the morning.

Ah, we can hope. 'Sigh'

So far I've only reached step one, the distant rumbles of thunder, no lightning, no rain, wonder who is getting it all? The last thunder and lightning I saw was Christmas Eve, woke up to thunder and lightning and rain lashing the windows..........or was I dreaming?

Well I'm currently packing for NYC where I see the weather is going to be much the same as here but a bit warmer. As long as it doesn't rain a lot or be really windy and I don't end up looking like this, I'll be happy.

Evening guys and girls

Slow start to the day here, but as the day progressed - so did the weather. Lovely sunny skies, warmth and a nice gentle breeze. Just on my cool down from my nightly run and the weather is perfect. Only prob is the bloody gnats. But hey that was offset by the beautiful bluebells fluttering in the breeze.

Thats a great idea snow raven. We done that last year in the summer. But we went from Temple Pier to Greenwich. We got a really good deal for a family of four and had a great time. Seeing our great city on a boat on the Thames is something I would advise people to do (-: enjoy!

Lovely here too. I was quite surprised what with rain warnings to the west of us. I think the far SE corner got the best of it today.

Evening, well the weather did improve here slowly, got some sun during the afternoon but always a lot of mid level cloud cover.

The winds look more southerly tomorrow so hopefully it will be brighter and warmer.
