I just failed to hit 20c too, 19.5C north of the river.

We hit 19.3c respectable for the time of year, It is when we get proper heat. We do well, due to my location; proximity to Central London.

Evening all

What a corker today has been. Beautiful sunshine and plenty of warmth. Not sure what temp we reached but it must of been at least 17 / 18 degrees. Very warm on tonight's run and I must make a note to myself to not run with my mouth open.... Flies/gnats are not what I really want for dinner :-D

Sun starting to set now, and it starting to turn slightly misty.

Have a good one guys, Laters LD

hi all

tonight

http://www.raintoday.co.uk/

Posted Image

Posted Image

according to the fax charts we should have a warm from cross us overnight-early tomorrow morning

will be warm with poss mist in places

might be worth keeping an eye on the radar to see what happens

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

tomorrow

Posted Image

still under a southerly flow

rainfall

Posted Image

looks like there will still be the odd shower around but most places should stay mainly dry if not a bit cloudy

Posted Image

Posted Image

if we can get the sun for long enough we may see some thundery showers develop in the afternoon

again its a radar watch to see what happens

temps

Posted Image

temps around 17-18 degrees

locally a 20 will be achieved somewhere today

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

tomorrow night

Posted Image

a slightly breezier south-south east flow

rainfall

Posted Image

should stay dry

watch to the south for incoming showers from the south which look to hit on thursday morning

temps

Posted Image

around 10-12 degrees

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

thursday

Posted Image

a more westerly flow

weak but may get windy on east facing coastlines

rainfall (note the troughs on the fax charts)

Posted Image

Posted Image

looks likely showers moving up from the south will effect all by around 2pm

if we get some sun before hand storms will certainly be likely

temps

Posted Image

around 16-18 degrees

but will feel humid

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

thursday night

Posted Image

a weak south westerly flow

rainfall

Posted Image

starts dry but rain will move in overnight

more likely rain rather than storms

after the cold front moves through things will feel a shade fresher

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

friday

Posted Image

a weak west-south west flow

rainfall

Posted Image

should stay mainly dry but a risk of a light shower late pm is possible

temps

Posted Image

cooler today

12-14 degrees locally a 16 possible

looks likely we will see a lot of sun today Posted Image

thats it for now

back later

Nice forecast, JP. Hope we do get some thunder action. :)

It's been a lovely day here and as the sun went down, the sky looked like mother-of-pearl. Stunning. Hope we get many more days like today. :)

I think something has gone wrong with those 850s charts from the UKMO, The other models seem to agree with a mild air mass overhead with the UKMO looking similar in the pressure pattern.

Hello all.

Sorry I am still here and do look in every day, just very busy at the moment. Very pleasant day today after this morning's heavy fog. Very mild out tonight - sorry still not got the weather station sorted so no proper readings. It will probably go up when we have the tiles hung on the side of the house which suffered the worst weather.

Hope all of you are well and thank you JP as usual for your charts.

From The Times

Forecasters crack formula to predict long-range weather

Extreme winters will be predicted with greater reliability than before after the world’s best long-term weather forecast model was developed by British scientists, the Met Office said.

The breakthrough may have a substantial impact on the economy, allowing power companies and wind farms to anticipate energy demands while airports and councils can estimate how much grit and anti-freeze is likely to be required.

From The Times

Heat is on as Met Office is accused of a ‘warm bias’ in annual forecasts

The Met Office’s method of predicting the annual increase in global average temperature may have a “warm biasâ€, according to a BBC weather forecaster.

Paul Hudson said that the yearly headline predictions made by the Met Office had been “too warm†for 13 of the 14 years so far this century.

April Fo............... you get the gist!

Morning all,

Murky but mild sums up the weather this morning.

Did anyone fall for any April Fools day stories yesterday?  I am ashamed to say I fell for the one about the square eggs Posted Image .  In my defence I only heard the story on Day Break and didn't see the footage, but figured that anything is probably possible with nature and the chicken could have had a faulty gene or something... Morning all. :)

Quite murky here too at the moment; a big change from yesterday, albeit the sunshine then was hazy.

I'm actually looking forward to the rain late tomorrow, to clear this crappy air, even though a temperature fall will be the downside.

Looking at JP's ensembles, it seems to me that temperatures will only drop to average levels anyway - 13C or so for mid April. :)

Just looking at Philip Eden's CET stats, what an amazing contrast for March 2013 - 2.91C & March 2014 - 7.64C, that's the British weather for you and what makes it so interesting.

Have a nice dayPosted Image

Quite a contrast all right, shorts and t shirt weather yesterday yet just over a year ago I was sitting in a plane in Belfast for three hours with two foot of snow on the runway! Hopefully no late surprises this year

I haven't fallen for one for many years (probably early 90's) - there was an article on Countryfile about an animal called a 'stink toad' which was on the verge of extinction, I think due to its breeding habits (there were practically none of them left and they might have only been able to breed on one day of the year) I watched the whole article with interest and the penny only dropped when John Craven mentioned the breeding date... To be honest, my brain is too hardwired to fall for anything on April 1st now.
