Well I said that I'd only come back on here if something grabbed my interest. And that line out west is doing just that!

Its basically a rain band with gusty winds as it sets in but now winds are light behind it.

A wintry mix here of sleet and snow mixed in the heavy bursts.

I was unfortunate to be out in that intense hail shower! Horizontal hail from very strong wind = Blindness so had to stand still as couldn't see.

Sleet mixed in with rain in a shower here about midday. Went over to Barmouth this afternoon and there was a heavy hail shower there as we were leaving about 1615, and saw lots of sleet driving back. Was pretty much all snow going over that Oerddrws pass near Dinas Mawddwy, but only above 600m did the hills have a dusting.

No lying snow here but we have had sleet and hail showers. The heaviest of these about 2 hours ago left a partial covering of hail on the ground; about 2 miles E/SE of here the roads were covered in slush due to melting hail.

Perhaps it's too much to hope for that the showers will continue overnight and give us a thin covering of snow by morning.

Some of the pictures being posted this time last year were genuinely amazing. Polar Maritime's were probably my favourite ever since I started following this forum Posted Image

Absolutely beautiful in dove dale today , as you can see. Also got a good glimpse of snow at the cat and fiddle in Buxton too...marvelous!

Thanks for the photo's, mattyray and kay.

Although we know where you were when you took them, could you put your location in your avatar please, it's always handy to know where someone is if they're posting weather reports or commenting generally on the weather in their area. Thanks.

A few sleet showers already here this morning but any lying snow now looks very unlikely this month. We've managed not to entirely snow- free  this month, now can tonight manage the first air frost in March?

It's a complete mystery - the radar showed a shower over me at around 8am, but was asleep by that time, so had no idea what it fell as (ahhh!). But it would have just been typical if it fell as sleet or wet snow, considering the wintry shower reports in here (lol).
