Actually the BBC tv forecasts yesterday lunchtime and evening showed dense fog along the South Coast and it was spoken about by the forecasters, so even if no warning is issued one could interpret it for their own locality - unless you didn't see the forecasts.

Truly glorious day now after the foggy then low cloudy morning.

Emailed Meto severe weather alert for fog was issued at 4.37!

Very light rain down here which appears to pulling away Northwards. We are in the gap between two bands of rain so it looks to remain very light if any, although Wareham by it's position may be fortunate and just catch the edge of the one band of rain as it trudges ever northwards.

Cloudy with 8.8 As. I assume the cold front is still to the west although there won't be a massive wind veer associated with it I don't suppose.

 Quite mild.

Temp 12C

Wind SE 17 mph gusting 30

Pressure 997 falling.

Flat calm and very humid with scatterred outbursts of rain. Just had a couple of rumbles of thunder to add to the mix.

Sorry to hear about the asthma Lightningsprite, hope the air clears soon and gives you some relief. Do you have problem with pollen too?

The (reported) levels of air pollution cannot be helping you, perhaps we should grateful that our prevailing wind is normally off the Atlantic.

Just had a bit of light rain too. The MO app has me down for heavy rain until 1pm, it's dry now.

It was a very interesting morning to be out working watching the mid-high based convection moving Northwards. Only a few sharp showers and a brief downpour in Trowbridge, however I am not surprised there was thunder around as the conditions seemed ripe and very unstable.

Long heavy rainfall this morning that went on for an hour or more with a bit of hail. Also had some thunder and very dark clouds passed over.

It's been nice having mild nights though I can't complain too much, except that it's rainy today.

Current temp in Brean - 14 Degrees

Pressure - 100 and falling :(

Not really any wind.

Roll on more sunny days!

Had a flash of lightning and a loud crack of thunder around 7.15am, followed by a fairly heavy downpour lasting about 15 minutes.

I've found out that Bovington school got hit by lightning this morning, just looked back on the radar, there's several strikes all around me at about 9am. I didn't hear a dickie bird!

Given the synoptic situation I must admit I find the convection a bit odd but then what do I know and have access to limited info. Just that it's basically a warm front/cold front and warm sector situation although it's not your bog standard warm sector with a long southerly fetch on the wind. Anyway here it's been stable with As/Ac all day with just a little rain from the medium stuff.

15.5℃ with hazy sunshine. Bournemouth at 17℃ and the Solent at 18℃, must be some decent sunshine for them. Posted Image

Those in Falmouth and Penryn will remember last weeks solitary lightning strike and huge crash of thunder. Amazing damage for one bolt at Penryn Rugby club. http://www.falmouthpacket.co.uk/news/11118791.Lightning_strike_scorches_Penryn_Rugby_Club_pitch_and_explodes_posts__PICTURES/?ref=mry

Was it possible it was a positive CG strike?

I do wonder just how stifling and unpleasant it would have been if this exact set up had occurred at the height of summer. As it is in early April even brief hazy sun through the frontal cloud/dustiness is enough to take the temperature into the high teens which with high humidity isn't that pleasant.
