A few showers breaking out over Wales right now - will they get anything more than a drop of rain or not?

Strange one here today, it was glorious in Mumbles from 1 till 2.30 but you could see the incoming black clouds, back home at 4, it started raining, with some massive drops, enough to wet the floor in a few minutes, but it stopped within 10 minutes. It dried up as soon as it come.

Where's the sun gone? Temps are 7 degrees lower than yesterday. The week ahead looks uninspiring too, a lot of cloud around.

Sorry, but where did you get that from? Temperatures are pretty similar to yesterday here.

The BBC said more cloud than sun in many areas, it has been cloudy all day today, it's forecasted to be cloudy here again tomorrow. I'm sure they'll be some sunny spells Tuesday>But all this talk of high pressure and great weather, the coming week isn't much different than last week, in fact, temps look as though they were higher here last week, and it'll turn out to be less sunny than last week too.

Feeling a bit cooler today - thankfully. Odd spots of cloud and also had the odd darker cloud go by, but no rain dropped.

Guessing this on the 1900 was what this like dark cloud floating past?

Not even a single glimpse of the sun here today, just grey leaden skies all day.

Max temp of 17.9c, bringing to an end a run of seven successive days of 20c+ maxes.

With high pressure in charge to the west  expect lots of cloud... High pressure is anti cyclonic so at any time of year the flow is clockwise around the high, so lots of moisture and cloud being picked upon its Southern flank and wraps the cloud around the uk with some holes in it! Cant understand some members talking about a nice weekend with such uncertainty in the forecast,,,,,, :nonono:

If the forecast is right and as you rightly say there has been a lot of variation in recent days, so a huge caveat, A High Pressure with North westerly winds, should give a decent weekend for sheltered western parts especially for Wales.

However that is very much based on current forecasts (what could possibly go wrong). and there has been huge fluctuation in recent days and a slight trend away from High Pressure domination this weekend and certainly one before Glastonbury. :sorry: .

An unexpectedly sunny start to this morning. After viewing the BBC forecast following yesterday evening's news I was expecting a complete cover of low cloud from the North Sea but there's no sign of any, even towards the eastern horizon.

Pretty cloudy here, at the moment. Was expecting at least some sun. Looks like the BBC got it wrong, again!

Glimpses of sun coming through now and much thinner cloud to my NE heading SW towards the area. Maybe a nice late morning/afternoon in store.

The low cloud burnt off rapidly soon after 08.00 this morning, from approx 95% cloud to approx 95% clear sky in less than half an hour! There's a fresh Easterly breeze and it reminds me of much of last July's heatwave.
