Big area of moderate rain passing through now. I assume that line over south-west Wales heading this way is the cold front? Hope so, if there's no more thundery activity for today then best it clears out and gives us a pleasant afternoon.

We had a decent storm this morning. Overhead lightning, mostly sheet but some forked, torrential rain and deep booming thunder that set car, house alarms off etc. That must mean the 7-8 year summer storm drought is over! More heavy rain earlier but no thunder. More storms/downpours could develop later so hopefully more fun.

Recorded a video which I'll post later.

Could storms develop later? My impression was that once the front was through, it would clear out and that would be it for today? I think I've got it wrong! I thought the front was currently across Wales but that must be wrong then?

Would be nice to get some development here but I was thinking further east was best from this point onwards.

The post-frontal airmass is quite unstable so scattered/isolated downpours and storms could develop later, quite a bit of CAPE this afternoon

Met Office for Wales:

Today: Drier, brighter and fresher conditions will move in from the southwest through the afternoon, with isolated heavy or thundery showers possible too. Maximum Temperature 20 °C.

Oh I see, so more back to a more usual home grown scenario this afternoon then. Thanks for clearing that up!

Works on Android. That is exactly what I was hoping for here, constant elevated lightning, unfortunately it wasn't to be. Good video!

Thick fog and moderate rain here. I'll be very surprised if we get any more storms now.

Had another nice thunderstorm this morning. The thunder wasn't overly loud this time, but the lightning was pretty frequent and the rain was torrential! Brings the total number of thunderstorms this year to 10, half of which have occured in the last 3 weeks!

Decent storm this morning, nothing unusual though. Pretty crap day thereafter, as expected. Let's see what Monday brings.
