A little breezy here and even though it's only 18.7c atm, it feels warmer than that, almost a little muggy, cloud on and off but in all bright skies.

Severity level:Posted Imagehttp://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=weather-alerts;reg=5;sess=

Moving up in the very warm air coming off the continent could be clusters of thunderstorms, with the potential for frequent lightning, hail, strong gusts.

(a slight risk of severe convective activity). One such cluster is already showing up on forecast models for 8/9am Saturday.

Moving over Isle of Wight, Hants, Dorset then northwards across the M4 into the Midlands mid morning.

More may appear so do keep an eye on forecast updates +  the radar
From lunchtime into the afternoon, the threat of heavy rain and thunderstorms remains for England.

Particularly for the Midlands and Lincs, into S. & E. Yorkshire with a more isolated risk in the SE and E.Anglia

Pletty there to keep us all going methinks :)

Feeling quite humid here at 21.8c, very windy and some great altocumulus castellanus- interesting to see what happens later tonight, combination of radar watching and curtain twitching!!

Anyone from the Midlands area planning on chasing tonight or tomorrow? I'm new to the area and don't know any places to view storms from!

You'll be able to see the sights from the top off Beacon Hill from the castle, almost a 1000ft asl

Yeah - it's a super hdr filter, I like to use it in certain situations, especially clouds. :)

Well it wasn't looking to good this morning and the Meto's forecast had already busted before 10am. They had me down for clearing skies and good sunny spells from pretty much 9-10am onwards, what we actually had was light rain and cloudy skies until around 11-11.30am. The sun came out but there was & still is a lot of cloud around with a stiff breeze.

Went out for a pub lunch and sat out in the beer garden, felt fairly cool when the sun was in, but very pleasant when the sun was out and the winds dropped.

Not sure how our chances are for tonight, but everyone who lives around the parts knows that it's not a given when thunder storms are predicted.

Anyway, all batteries charged (again) and poised for a tense night looking at the radar and out of the window.

Mid level instability starting to show now which is a good sign, that's not to say anything thundery will happen around these parts but its looking good for C/S England

We've had mid level instability overhead all day. A very good sign as you say.

I wonder if the likely thundery activity tonight/early tomorrow will be as fast moving as the showers (with a few strikes earlier) which are racing S-N across Wales this afternoon.

You can see the showers/activity over Wales, on the the very latest FAX charts

What do make of the FAX chart for noon tomorrow?

A warm day, warmest so far this year in fact with sunny intervals, max 22.5c. A few spits as the showery band passed through an hour or so ago, it produced sferics over the Carmarthenshire Black Mountains.

EDIT just reached 22.7c.
