Meto Rainfall interestingly suggests the chance of storms firing up still until around 1am with some torrential cells near Birmingham then up to Staffordshire around Midnight. Probably wont be exact but suggests a risk nonetheless.

Thunder and heavy showers on and off right now. Big grey cloud in the middle of this lovely blue sky

distant rumbles of thunder to the south of me now from that tower - looks like it might skirt round to the south east - we shall see if it develops at all

An amazing Anvil started forming about 6.30pm out over exmoor ,its now moving closer with constant rumbles ,looking on radar its a very small affair but given what i can see from here on west mendip it could very well be locally severe ,any reports from that area ,especially bridge water way etc ,cheers .

Back up to 21.8c now but no convection to speak of, not surprised even in the slightest, oh well at least have another week of perfect summery conditions to make up for it!

Funny looking sky to the point that I can't tell where the core of this cell is but some good rumbles of thunder heard so far.

So so close with this cell but it's just passing to the south east, got the sun shining and some blue sky out west and menacing clouds to the s/se.

Indeed and here too in Nuneaton.

I was at the Nuneaton town v Coventry City preseason friendly when it broke over the ground.Terrific show of lightening thunder, torrential rain and hail accompanied by swirling winds and almost night time darkness.

Pitch flooded  and match called off after 8mins of second half.

Sun out again now.

A utube link to flooding in Nuneaton this afternoon.

so much rain in around 15mins.

Clouded up here a little , but looking south is where I should be for some good stuff . :wallbash:

yep - it divided into two and the good bit is sliding under Wales - whilst we're are left with some limp rain!

can hear some nice rumbly bits of thunder though - very boomy - so close and yet sooooooooooooo far

Yeah I was just looking out the window thinking the same thing. Difficult to pick out the lightning while the sun is shining.

Hi,Tony,

I take it you are a Sky Blues fan?

Yes we could see the storm clouds approaching as the first half worn on and then the sheet lightning -some storm that was.

I was looking forward to seeing how we would go against the SBlues after HT with us 1-0 up.

They looked more up for it in the 7or 8mins of the 2nd half before they all came off -shame because i wanted to see some more of our new players and potential signings that were on display.

Anyway it flooded the ground and i hear parts of Nuneaton/Coventry in the fairly short time it lasted-the power of nature never ceases to amaze me.

I am sort of yes Phil! 27mm at Hatton, Warwick and 20mm at Bablake Coventry today according to

Shame that cell only gave us a glancing blow, so close but that's been the story of the last 12hrs with these storms!

Yeah, it seems we've been close but no cigar over the last couple of day's.

Seems the W-S-M cell has veered suddenly eastwards once again, really can't make it up. Instead just a bit of light rain from the edge of the anvil here with the sun shining at the same time. Game over on this one.
