What a storm at coventry!

Indeed and here too in Nuneaton.

I was at the Nuneaton town v Coventry City preseason friendly when it broke over the ground.Terrific show of lightening thunder, torrential rain and hail accompanied by swirling winds and almost night time darkness.

Pitch flooded  and match called off after 8mins of second half.

Sun out again now.

Oxfordshire storm coming into view here:

http://bws.users.netlink.co.uk/webcam.htm

Should be able to track it as it heads to Northants over the next hour or so.

Actually it is the over shooting anvil which has spread 20 miles north of the storm!

Shows quite well on the latest visible satellite:

repost from me in the convective thread...

ok folks, just got back in from chasing that Swindon cell.....checked the radar and looks like a right moving supercell. I chased up to Barbury Hill (about 8 miles SE of Swindon, constant thunder and I'm interested to hear members thoughts on the photo's below as there was a definite lowering and spin up, possible fully fledged wall cloud....taken looking east

Yeah not really fresher here yet either. A few more small storms to our west or SW to my surprise but probably won't reach here.

Cells really gathering pace and organising into a line from West Somerset down across Exmoor and into Exeter. In fact some of the cells really are intensifying very quickly on radar.

It`s a bit of a guessing game when it comes to thunderstorms.

if you look on sat24 - it's developing nicely into something possibly rather bigger

edit:- Huge Tower now just to the south of me - if that really gets going - gonna be good

Is it heading our way Andy boyo .

lovely sexy tower on it un all - come on - I'm hoping this'll develop into a corker - did an alll nighter last night - only had 3 hours kip this morning - can't believe I'm still awake really - about 6.45am this morning - it's tamping down with rain outside - i got window open - thought thunder and lightning had passed when all of a sudden - the loudest bang i've ever heard - nearly ended up on the ceiling with the shock - that storm this morning was a bit lazy - but those booming thunder claps were amazing!

I have put a radstock postcode in for you, think it's been fairly damp there..

Thanks Mullender, looks pretty wet!

A glorious sunny afternoon SW of London after nothing over-night (got plenty of storm activity Thursday night). Not sure the French stuff will reach here tonight. Looks like some of you chaps have done very well:)

I'm finding this link to be a wonderful tool to track these storms - virtually real-time with the strikes and also illustrates the travel of the soundwaves from the strikes when you zoom in close on the map. brilliant on fullscreen mode!

Heavy rain lighting hail and loud thunder claps just passed over spot !

Hi,Tony,

I take it you are a Sky Blues fan?

Yes we could see the storm clouds approaching as the first half worn on and then the sheet lightning -some storm that was.

I was looking forward to seeing how we would go against the SBlues after HT with us 1-0 up.

They looked more up for it in the 7or 8mins of the 2nd half before they all came off -shame because i wanted to see some more of our new players and potential signings that were on display.

Anyway it flooded the ground and i hear parts of Nuneaton/Coventry in the fairly short time it lasted-the power of nature never ceases to amaze me.
