Reading 26.8 in the shade in back garden- the first time it's topped 25 even in that sheltered place this summer. By and large the dreaded clouding over hasn't happened, there is a fair bit of haze around though.

Seem to have high cloud most of today which has limited temperatures a bit I think from what they could be, currently 24.2C with a dew point of 14C and humidity at 51%.

Shawbury has finally topped 25 according to the Met Office (25.2 at 1500), is that everywhere in the Midlands under 250m now? 17th July is really late, even 2012 did it in May.

It's been an odd summer in some respects, lots of maxes between 20c-23c and yet only three or four 25c+ maxes..............expect this stat to change markedly over the next few days  :good:

One thing that does seem very likely is that we should, at least, break the magic 25*C mark tomorrow. :)

If the thundery showers miss here to the West overnight and/or into tomorrow morning, then I hope they come and do their worst on Saturday. Or at least just for those after some big storms!

There's actually a bit of a breeze this afternoon which feels pleasant. The beauty of living a little higher up.

I will be very surprised if we make the next 48 hours without a thunderstorm.

Looking at the Radar got a feeling my location will miss the storms tonight with the very west of Dorset getting the edge. Hoping tomorrow night will be better but big correction east again on the GFS. Stuck in the middle again for me

Don't think this has been posted in here yet, met office have a warning out for tonight for Southwest England and South Wales for the thunderstorms moving north and any excessive rainfall they may bring http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=map&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&fcTime=1405551600&regionName=wl

29-30C should be easier to achieve here tomorrow. Places in the NE/E/SE of the patch really hotting up. May see a 31 in Leic/Notts/Lincoln.

Lincoln is north of here and nearer the coast, so surely we should top 30 if they can? As for storms, I wont get excited about anything in the SW, they invariably die over S Shropshire or go to Birmingham. Just hope they dont leave us with a load of dead cloud that spoils tomorrow.

Think I may be a tad to far east for tonights storms and then possibly to far west for tomorrow nights action but these situations are usually unpredictable.

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
