Some Summers have failed to even reach 25c in  the Midlands Bish!

Do you have any examples, Tony? Even the some of the recent post-2007 summers have usually managed a few 25c+ days at some point or another, I think?

I can't find one for here: the lowest yearly max I can find for Shawbury is 25.8 in 1985.

Quite cold night ahead for this time of the year, there's even a chance of a ground frost in prone areas, even in towns and cities down to 6s & 7s.

Yes Coventry 1974 from my own records as a 14 year old. At nearby Long Lawford the COL observer Stephen Burt recorded nothing higher than 76f June to August.

While my friend was at the doctors, I popped around the back to have a look at the floodplain- looked gorgeous in the sunshine, so I took a pic on the phone, shame there's a bypass in the background lol

A lot of convective towers today and black sky to the northwest of here. Definitely some shower activity kicking off across central and southeastern areas too.

A definite convergence zone set up early this morning with low cloud/mist moving NW off Salisbury Plain meeting higher level Altocumulus of many varieties moving SE around 08.00 . By 09.00 the low cloud had begun to convect and towers grew with darkening bases providing sharp showers by late morning.

The radar around midday-13.00 showed a line of showers stretching from Bristol towards SW London and it's largely remained unmoved all afternoon, although the heaviest have always been towards the Eastern end.

Meanwhile here to the South of that line, with a view of towers/showery looking sky to the N/NE, it's cleared up into an afternoon of blue sky, Cirrus and small Cumulus.
