Shocking .108 mph on southcoast met office. Wakey wakey .no red warning .sorry 109mph higher than anything on Wednesday .

Do keep up Vince. That 109mph gust was recorded at The Needles Lighthouse, a very exposed location well known for recording gusts in excess of 100mph several times a year. Posted Image

Elsewhere along the South East Coast the maximum gusts I have seen so far are very much in line with the Met Office warnings.....just over 80mph. Not denying it's a windy old night though, even here inland.

You think the winds are strong in the south? The Humber has around 60-70mph gusts right now and has not been issued a yellow warning, trees are down everywhere!

C'mon Paul, you know better than to turn this into a north v south thing.  There's plently of that nonsense going on in another threadPosted Image

Stay safe up there feller.

I guess they thought the storm would weaken before it got there.

No sorry that wasn't my intention, I meant that similar speeds are being witnessed here and there's no warning out. Some gusts are similar as Wednesday and we were covered by an amber.

Cheers though, tree near me looks like it's buckling.

I'm going to bed… no I'm not, it's just started roaring again outside, worse than ever.

I have this terrible compulsion to go to the window in the bedroom facing South and open it just to feel the force, but the whole room might be destroyed so will try to control myself.

Lost my power first time ever from a storm Posted Image

Hope it stays on now. Haven't had a flicker yet, but wind is going strong again. Hope it doesn't do something now.

do it iceni, although you are taking the advise of someone trying to fight the urge to go fly a kite before the storm goes.

Not sure, it keeps getting weaker then waking up again, not bothered checking if it's raining when it's gusty, but I expect that's the case.

Go fly it! What else was a Kite made for? A harness would be handy though, as any good kite flyer knows ;-)

No rain here for a few hours but still gusting frequently.

Well I've been woken by some roaring winds. About to get up to watch out the window and it's all gone quiet!

Give it 10 mins, I'm sure they'll be back.
