Planes are circling all over the place at the moment http://www.flightradar24.com/

Many are diverting which would be the most sensible option right now. A lot heading to more northern airports.

According to the Reigate Grammar School weather station we are 4mph off the strongest gusts of 24/12/13, at 47mph. This feels like more sustained wind though, house creaking much more. Girl cat and I are cuddled on sofa, she is blissed out with her catnip, I have gin. Boy cat is attempting to get out through the locked cat flap, I believe he is a cat with very little brain.

Ok scary my bedroom windows which are double glazed are rumbling and creaking now and thought I just heard a tree crashing over in the road behind us, the peak will be around midnight to 2am I reckon.

Cheers, I may stay up for a few hours more then....plenty of like minded peeps on here tonight! :-)

Crazy wind here. Hoolie plus some. Garden chairs blown over, fence at risk, sounds like the winds from my nights in mountain refuges in the Alps long ago when I pretended to be intrepid. Tenzing Norgay described the wind on Everest as the 1952 team headed towards the summit as the 'roar of a thousand tigers'. Despite being 28550 feet below the summit of Everest I can understand his point....

Hope all are ok out there

I think it's peaking here around about now, another Top gust has just come in at 68.5 Knots = 78.8 MPH !!

I can't see it getting above that !

Much higher than I expected it to be tbh

It's getting worse out there folks another huge gust just blasted through our 50'ft tall conifers, it's expected to start peaking within the next hour or so.

I was going off of the "gallery" images. It's too dark to see whether it's sand or pebble but I assume this is the same camera we're watching live

It's all mostly shingle. That's the hissing noise are the waves recede down the beach. I know because I used to wind surf there and at Selsey. The only place which is sandy is West Wittering at low tide.

This must be the strongest wind of this winter here. Cannot see any damage yet but am expecting some.

I can hear the wind indoors and not often I can do that (unless it is me), quite amazing wind being felt here.

http://www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/faultmap/External_Iview-nofilter.html For anyone who gets their electricity supply from UK Power Networks, they have a page on their site which shows all the current power outages. Theres loads of them!
