hi bob strong winds to peak around 12-4am still strong up to 8am but easing down slowly through tomorrow still say gusts 70-80mph coasts and exposed routes 40-50-60 mph most areas poss 70 localised only though we may get stronger but i have an inkling we wont

Urm it's already about that now, if this continues to build and not peak for another 2 or 3 hours it'll probably be 70-80mph inland and more like 100 on coast, I've got a terrible feeling the Met have underestimated this my house is already shaking!

Evening all

Lively wind out the back of the house, fire going well in the sitting room whilst the gale tries to get down the flue, throw itself into the house and scare the pants off the owners. For sure it's a vigorous night even here 20 miles or so inland.

Off to Brighton early doors tomorrow, family there a few days but I'll be back Sunday night, looking forward to seeing the beach and how it has changed, and getting up high on the Downs.

Have a great weekend all

AS

This is awesome so far! The wind is catching the side of my apartment and being on the third floor the roar is incredible!

I'm perched right on the Medway River, not expected it to get particularly high here but the waves on it are pretty impressive

At home in Hampton, just had strongest gust of evening a second ago - house strongly buffeted - would not want to be landing on a plane at Heathrow - stay safe everyone - I must say I love the sound a storm makes. Must take the top off the Irish Mist hiding at the back of the cupboard !

Raining again quite heavily and very windy. Cats refuse to go out, but if Stormy goes out, I absolutely refuse to start calling out for her this time. :D

Surrey,

It has extra-tropical elements within it, as noted by Estofex on their forecast yesterday, noticed a big increase in remperature between 6 and 8pm tonight.

That was close. Aircraft came out of Gatwick over our house which they never usually do. I sat here watching it barely taking off and being thrown from side to side. I do hope they stop flying soon Posted Image

Fully expecting to lose power here soon. Lights are strobing! I just stood at the back door and it's incredible! So mild and a constant roar with sirens going off and the sounds of things crashing, glass breaking. Judging by sound alone this beastie is on par with st Jude's storm.

Blimey, often see the Marco Polo over at Tilbury, it's a big old cruise ship! Wouldn't want to be in the channel tonight!

Why were they still at sea gale force 12 forecast, should have been sheltering up somewhere

Depends on where those weather stations are, I'm at the top of a hill and about half an hour ago had a gust which must have topped 60mph and the average wind is really building now it's becoming more constant. The way this is building and building reminds me of October 2000 let's hope 2am dosn't get that frightening otherwise I'm going to start looking for some clean underwear!

I can't believe they were actually out there and not safe in harbour. That is criminal in my view. We have gusts of hurricane force already on land, it must be horrendous in the Channel!!!
