I'm watching closely here for what you in Essex are saying, those in Rayleigh, Colchester, Essex, whatever it is will reach you first then here i think, oh and Keraunohile of course, you're just down the road.

Fairly windy on and off here, just stuck head out of door, no sign of foxes or badgers. Not going out to see the band now, going to stay in with the ipad, wine and some party food !!

Oh and the flight app is amazing, I love being able to tell which planes are going over every 90secs to heathrow, and their holding pattern sometimes is interesting.

Noticed a tree in field sort of had its bark stripped, if that's possible. It was sort of beige colour. Normally a dark brown.

Hubby is braving the very powerful gusts and somewhat lashing rain to get that most romantic of Valentine's meals, a takeaway. There was some minor flooding of a couple of slip roads on the journey back down the motorways this evening, and along the A3 there were two occasions where the gust decided to take control of the steering wheel rather than me. All this boozy talk, you've got me wanting to start 'early' - but if I do I will have gone through Lloydyd's stash long before the storm arrives and be slobbering away as mentioned earlier during the main event, so will save my alcoholic energies for later.

BBC weather app showing average wind of 34mph at midnight for my location, surely that means gusts approaching 70mph?...

HELL that's what's going to happen absolute HELL! It's getting wild here aswell now and apparently still 5 or 6 hours from the peak at least.

I guess the smokers outside the Crumpled Horn opposite Upminster Park are gonna have trouble with their cigarette lighters tonight.  'Ere mate stand that side will yer it blocks the wind.

Have just had 10 minutes of torrential rain, hail and squally wind here. No Sky signal - teenager going into meltdown!

Think it is time for a large glass of wine.

Getting a bit hair-raising outside now! Must be a squall passing overhead. Have to say I'm not really relishing hours of this - think a large glass of wine is in order 'to calm my nerves'...

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see Atlantis had just posted exactly the same thing!

Nothing much here at all so far...extreme south-east and a few miles inland. I did get a chance to visit the camping shop a few miles from us to buy a couple of LED lamps in case the power goes - quite likely given the forecast wind speeds and the tree-ey location. Obviously took the opportunity to pick up some libations for the evening ahead, which I've started on. The camping lights take 7-8 hours to charge, so I may not be able to find them. In which case, drinking the vodka (red wine later) appears to be the best idea.

Blowing up a hoolie here. The pouring rain is being blown through the tightly shut French doors. Things moving around on the deck in the gusts.
