Just found this on twitter -

http://www.capelcliffsweather.co.uk/today.htm

Capel is a small village on the cliffs between Folkestone and Dover so the site should record some decent gusts later.

That is rather a high gust of wind for a 23mph wind! Sure this is accurate?

Scenarios similar to October 2000 could well be possible on South Coast tonight with a potential tornado event, especially around Solent towards Sussex. Thats my take on it. Charts look quite worrying and would really catch our eye a lot more if we didn't have storm fatigue.

I don't know if it was then that Southernman had a tornado in Selsey.

Blustery shower in Reigate, rain banging against the study window. High up at the back of the house, so at the moment getting the full effect of the wind.  Nothing too strong yet, though there are the occasional more pushy blasts, but it's very atmospheric up here.  Got to go out about 7 to drop eldest off on date, then back home, light fire, bottle of fizzy (note, this will not be Tizer) followed by steak and chips and a couple of glasses of red.  No idea what my wife is having.....

But it would also be foolish to underestimate it.

If someone's house is too close to a tree for comfort then perhaps a safer option would be to sleep downstairs, or at least try to sleep but if things get that noisy outside then perhaps there'll be quite a few sleep deprived people come tomorrow morning #BaggyEyes

Shuemura eyelash curlers are your friend in that situation. Posted Image

For the baggy eyes not the tree.

Ye gods - seriously thought sink tap washer had suddenly failed- just the rain battering against the leaky back door........reckon that's yet another load for the washing machine....more towels matron please.

Ha! I nearly just made a total twit of myself too - thought the wind had suddenly become incredibly strong and sustained, almost sounding as if it was inside the house, and was poised to post on here to that effect - then realised it was the sound of the dehumidifier drying out this afternoon's flooded basement...

Still cleaning out/disinfecting the pet carriers from yesterday's rescue run in case I need them to evacuate my own pigs tonight. Keep popping out to the green recycling bin to find the wind is very undecided here atm - few gusts but then sometimes quite calm.......not liking this eerie feeling at all........sod it......pass the wine please somebodyxxxx

Good wishes for you and the furry ones tonight it sounds bad where you are, here the wind is still gusting quite strongly, birds are ok, I've shut them in the dark so they are calm.

who called it hurricane bawbag ?. Posted Image

No idea why Bawbag - It was an intense extratropical cyclone which brought hurricane-force winds to Scotland at the beginning of December 2011 which is when that ‘Trampoline’ video was filmed !
