Xmas eve 1997 was bad had so much damage in isle of man.....

144mph gust recorded on snaefell... 108mph at ronaldsway

I agree last nights was nowhere near as bad as 2007.. here in 2007 once the wind change direction to WNWly, that was it for us, widespread damage.. but last night the SW we were sheltered here.

 

Tomorrow don't underestimate the gusts in our region, especially more southern parts. The strongest winds will occur in the southerly phase of the storm, and given in places like Cheshire and Merseyside there is no real shelter from southerly/southeasterly winds, they could be quite strong  for a time, especially as they funnel through the Cheshire Plain.

Mostly sunny good walk in the hills jogged to butchers n grocers cleaned house washing done then light snow shower this avo.....tomorrow should be ok in morning so outdoor stuff to get done then it can do what it likes tomoz afternoon as am staying put in office at home....

In daylight damage not to bad , minor repairs to do at weekend , whats worse is my away from home yard was broken into and expensive petrol equipment taken , well pizzed off

Jeez bloomin btards.....heard some scumbags been stealing sandbags and charging £50 per bag down south.....some scum around...

Whatever altitude its going to be transitory though....Peak district forecast has 6c by late afternoon to 600m asl Edited by WillinGlossop

Just read on storm thread the met office site is down that was 15 mins ago, its still down and looks quite bad with coding all over it

yea absolutely , I think they used the storm as cover , been at yard most of afternoon checking on what was taken ,2 waker plates hydrolic diamond chain saw 2 sthil saws and a selection of snap on tools and other odd bits , cost alot to replace bastards !!...
