Pressure now rising rapidly after bottoming out at 974mb. Are the back edge winds usually stronger?

My local station still reporting max gust of 47mph at 19:09. No WAY that's right....

I agree, it is much stronger than that here in Southampton,... near the common.....Posted Image ... I just heard a loud crash, bang, and its really shaking the house now. Local station must be in a bunker as I have been looking at that weather station site also...Posted Image  47 mph my arms.... legs... foot... what ever.

Still can't get the cat in.....

Yep far worse tonight than last Wednesdays storm, meto seemed to have understated this one as much as they over stated the last storm for this area.

I'm about 4 miles south east of Newbury and its breezy, but isn't THAT bad! Reading some of the posts on here would have you think it's blowing a sustained 60 / 70kts up here. It really isn't. Maybe a sustained 35 / 40 with puffs up to 55 or so.

Well the brief lull has been swept away back up to some crazy gusts and strange noises. Gonna be a long night.

Just lost my big old eating apple tree in the garden.  Gutted.

It's really bad here. Electric keeps going and the streetlamps went down.

My very small fence has been taken out. So much for my thinking that a 4' fence would withstand winds as my old 6' fence kept splitting.

So sorry Wormster.  That's my worry that my old apple tree will not withstand this wind. :(

Sorry to hear that, losing any tree is bad but when it's an old fruit tree it's a gutter.

Sorry to hear that, wormster. We bought this house simply because the apple tree was in blossom when we viewed it.

In Whitchurch hants at an elevated position on top of a hill near the train station. Gusty outside. Every so often a gust will shake the whole house and there was one almighty gust where I genuinely thought my bathroom window was going to implode. Hearing trains between Salisbury and london Waterloo have been cancelled due to a tree on the line at Whitchurch. Probably one of ours from the back garden:/

Bit hairy out there! Worst noise I've heard in a long time
