It's quite odd how this is panning out, the wind seems to be worse just slightly further inland - as opposed to right on the coast (going by reports on here anyway).

Still stand by what I said earlier, utterly howling outside. Lights are going on and off, so something is occurring somewhere.

Very gusty up here overlooking Radstock with horizontal rain squalls too at times lifting today's rain to 16mm and a recent gust of 57mph, stronger than the 55mph on the last storm. Gonna be hard to sleep tonight with the continuing squalls and winds veering into the West by morning, a nasty direction for us.

Its windy and the place is shaking but it's not tooo bad. Getting immune to it now lol.It does seem that inland is getting it worse as Mapantz said though. No trees going or fences etc just noisy.

Crikey, just had an almighty mahoosive gust remove part of the garage roof.

Wow stay safe!

Just had the biggest gust of the day as I was in the middle of the field with the dog - thought she was gonna take off like Toto! 47mph. 976mb and still falling rapidly. 24.5mm rain since midnight. Still around 10C so doesn't feel like a winter storm. Oh, if this rain were only snow :-)

think the reason we have had strong gusts in land is due to the squallines coming through. Think the station that shown 70mph was broken,,,50mph though has been the other nearest recording....:(

Getting a tad rough here now, 2 trees down by me (which wouldn't of took much due to super saturated grounds), electric has been flickering last 35 mins,

Had 2 very beefy gusts in last 40 minutes

take a look at this...sotonmet - ( Southampton bouy) is recording force 11 gusts (yikes) yet Cambernet is force 8. Me thinks Isle of Wight is sheltering Chichester Harbour from the worst gusts......

Latest modelling now showing gusts in excess of 80mph hitting the south coast tonight;

(Think that 81 figure is right on top of Wareham). ;)

Only 48mph gusts here at the moment. Knowing that it will increase by 20mph or so is not fun :/

I suspect it is reaching violent storm force down there cyclonic..keep that kettle nice, hot and full and fill that hotwater bottle too... ! we have had 50mph gusts but when they do come there is a distinct creak in the house..oh there goes another and I am in Newbury!..Admittedly on a little hill with the back of the house exposed to the south west.. That reminds me must go an get my charger and keep the phone charged. ...

A very wet journey home from Egham to Yatton and now it's bl**dy windy here. Still nothing like 23rd December 2013. That was immense and the gusts we have now were almost constant wind.

As Jason has posted we are still rising in windspeed in the harbour with a force 11 blowing out there now, and horizontal rain earlier. This one is intense so far.

My highest average reading ever @42mph, bearing in mind I am south facing on a downward slope, that's property damaging stuff for here.

Very windy here.. Lots of trees down judging by twitter feed and power lines down Ansford way. When does the storm peak or do we expect these winds through til tomorrow now? Can someone tell me please?

Suggestions from tv reports tonight suggest the wind still to be around 40-50mph by midday tomoz and then dying down.
