During Thursday evening and into Friday morning a small low pressure system will pass over Southern Ireland, Wales and the SW of England bringing wet and windy weather with it.

9pm Thursday most of Ireland misses out on the wind but the coasts could see 45mph mean speeds and gusts of 65mph,

By 6am on Friday the strong winds head over to the SW of England bringing mean speeds of 35 to 40mph and gusts around 50 to 60mph,

The Met Office have a warning out for snow in the yellow area shown on the map,

Rain will turn to snow for a time, mainly over the high ground during Friday morning. Over low ground it is unlikely that any snow will accumulate but some areas may see falling snow and slushy deposits for a time.

The public are advised to be aware of the potential for some disruption to travel especially during the Friday morning rush hour.

Ireland could also be in line of the snow as well during the early hours of Friday morning,

The models have been hinting on some windy weather for this week and finally they are starting to agree.

Saturday is the day to watch,

A deep low that looks to get down to 960mb tracks North East to Iceland but with the high pressure moving in over the UK the isobars over Western parts look tight.

Mean speeds over 40mph for Western Scotland with gusts up to 60mph at 9am,

By 12pm the same wind speeds head to Northern Scotland,

It could still downgrade or upgrade but at the moment there seems to be good support between all of the models.

Looks like Western Ireland North West, North and North East Scotland are going to get a blow this weekend.

Pretty gusty here atm with winds reaching 40mph from the south east. Looking forward to something a bit more settled although it has been rather quieter of late after the relentless storms we've endured over the winter period.

Yellow wind warnings out today for parts of Scotland & N Isles, I thought Saturday was looking like the windiest day with stronger gusts forecast. Maybe the Met will issue further warnings later - http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=map&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&fcTime=1394150400

Westerly violent storm force 11 with a gust of 92mph @ Cairnwell, Scotland, quite an elevated location though. I imagine that snowsports in the Highlands will be on hold atm. Severe wind chill as well. http://www.xcweather.co.uk/
