The wind is so strong in Exeter and quite sustained too, we must be getting near on 70mph, a couple trees at work are leaning over, huge trees, sign blew off from an electrical store as I was drying home and recycle bin has flown into the middle of the garden! I'm working if these are our peak winds here In Exeter?

I'd suggest to anyone to our east to tighten down things now!

This is stronger than the 23rd December storm we had here

My anemometer is reading a rather calm 12mph, and has been for about an hour. Might be something to do with all the trees behind it Posted Image

Is it inside the house ?

Sounds intense! I think the winds are peaking now in your region, but i'm not 100% sure on that. It's getting really windy here near Southampton now, almost on par with any storm so far this winter

Will the winds weaken as they move to southeast or stay the same?

My neighbour has one of those 10' x 10' metal sheds in his garden, when he wakes up tomorrow, he'll realise he "had" one in the garden, someone else owns it now.

This might sound dramatic but right now, this has to be the worst winds since the burns day storm, it's quite something!

blowing a bit but nothing special here in Essex atm when is it meant to get going ?

Give it another couple of hours to reach maximum gust levels. Biggest gusts/winds really reserved for the coastal areas though.

Seemed to have a lull for about 1.5 hours. Lights have flickered again, and winds picking up again.

Some of us could be in for quite a wild night

Around midnight/early hours, I'm about as east as you can get, just starting to pick up a bit now, but expect it to get real tasty around midnight maybe later!

Seems like my aerial is taking a battering, the TV signal keeps going a bit wobbly.

Very gusty here now

The sea is now flooding over the defences at Freshwater Bay

Wightlink St Clare Vessel is stuck in the Solent and has been for 2 hours unable to move

Sea state very rough

Severe flood warnings are now in force across the island due to high tides and storm surge

Max gust 61.3mph in last hour

Pressure @ 975.2mb (falling -2.2mb/hr)

The tempo of the gusts has increased somewhat here too.

The tempo of the gusts has increased somewhat here too.

The reason I say that it's that bad here is because everything has to be just right for best impact of winds, due to location etc etc..

The criteria has been met now and from what I'm reading and seeing on Twitter, the flooding and damage is by far the worst this winter, and at least a decade.

Stay safe.
