Noteable increase in wind gust here in the last 10 mins, just about to set off home. 

 

West coast main line closed between Preston & Lancaster from 19.00 to 21.00, gives us a hint here when the worst of the winds will hit ?

Pretty horrendous outside. Trees bending, made worse still by the fact the worst of it isn't even here yet. Interesting few hours to come...

Looks like depression is slightly deeper than earlier model runs suggested, 12z GFS now has the centre down to 954mb and an increase in wind speeds lasting into the night.

Just look at the pressure gradient and the mean speeds in km/h, worse conditions likely from 6pm onwards.  Storm force winds penetrating inland around the coasts. Maybe not be quite as bad as Wales (over 100mph) but gusts of 80-90mph possible and this will cause all sorts of problems.
