Wintry sky to the west can see shafts.

Cleared away now but it started as rain, then turned to graupel, then snow halfway through, nothing really settled, and now its mostly melted..

 

and now given the sun is setting, the temperature are going to take a huge plummet.. I wonder whether -2 or -3C is possible.

Really heavy snow in st Helens. whiteout already in 10 mins

It's stopped now as brighter skies appear in the west. Just the slightest of coverings on the back of some cars, though that might be the hail from previously.

 

At least this winter now betters 07/08 in the snow stakes (unless you include April).

Just snowed here near Liverpool Airport for about 8 minutes, went very dark but is now stopping and the sun is out!  My first snow of the winter was a welcome sight!

Some heavy hail showers turned everything white , windy to , used all my like this thingys going through all posts so o if you don't get one its co s I ain't got any left !!!....

there is ppn overnight but was unsure if it would be snow. after what I just saw there would be no probs as it would be colder later

That snow shower really dropped the temperatures back rapidly to 1C according to the BBC weather iphone app. Amazing!!

Temperature has really dropped and visibility down. Snow falling whipped by the wind. The grass is turning white.
