Luke, your easy-to-understand explanations, and the charts you make an effort to post, are invaluable - try to ignore those who have a different agenda - we love you!

Sorry if that was my child and I was in the warning zone... NO BLOODY WAY... I'm afraid as my daughter's mother I reserve the right to pull her out of any trip I was not happy about. Surely other parents must feel as you, I bet you're not the only one

Somerset ... Shocking !

post-10773-0-22760300-1392147483_thumb.j

Feel so sad for people that this is could be happening in our own country - it looks like something we normally see on the news from places like Bangladesh when they are asking for disaster relief aid !

not going to be pleasant

@Floatyboat - I don't have timings, but I'm sure someone else can help you with that.  The school surely has a bad weather policy/risk assessments procedure for such trips and that should kick in with severe weather warnings in place? I'd perhaps ring the school in the morning and ask, as bad weather is coming will they be re-assessing any non-essential travel?  All the best.

Here it is down to a chilly 3.8 degrees, dry and calm - OH has gone off to see the Albion vs Leeds match, won't be so calm there in abit methinks :-)

Oops! So it is. It still seems a tad excessive though. Very calm here. Not a breath of wind. But it's damn chilly.

KEY BOARD WARRIORS!!!!! LOL

Edit: It feels like though, you go to the time and effort to pull up charts, look at them and compare them to the old ones, then work out what is going on and inform people of you're thoughts, and then they have a go at you? Some really odd people on this planet. At least I got a bunch of good peeps in here

I really don't understand why some people are in the mod thread because if the weather is not to their liking it is boring weather according to them. They have no acceptance of anything other than snow and how anyone can say the recent storms, wind, rain and floods are boring is beyond me. Extreme weather has consequences and that is what we are experiencing now. Your points made perfect sense Surrey but I would leave the mod thread to bicker amongst themselves and stay in here, which is well policed, because if anyone made similar comments in this thread MK will descend upon them from a great height.

Down to 4c but no wind.

Bloominheck Surrey. Hope it doesn't get any worse mate, scary stuff.

On the other hand, I finally saw some snow for once up in Lincolnshire as the front sweeped through. It was a raging blizzard at one point. Seemed hard to believe I was seeing it haha. Only lasted for half an hour unfortunately though.

Overall, the forecasts are not promising for a dry out, and more heavy rain looks to take the headline once more. This is getting way out of hand now and beyond belief. I really hope it stops very soon

are you having a blow wavePosted Image

Not by the hairdresser but I think I will be when I step outside to go to the theatre with mini me (a lovely gift from mr P bless him as he knows wizard of oz is one of my favourite films) I will probably resemble the witch from the west by the time we get there !

Surrey / Luke - sorry to see the flood water is so close to you now, I hope the sand bags keep your home safe - maybe it's time to think about moving what you can upstairs just in case the unthinkable happens, fingers crossed it won't be necessary :-(

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
