Am baby/kid-sitting this evening over in Newton Regis, so will be reporting on the weather here for tonight and tomorrow morning.

Currently it's trying to rain harder, but still a small-ish shower. Also the wind has picked up a fair bit.

Going dark here, another downpour incoming. I think my rain gauge has gone faulty as it is only showing 6.0 mm for today ?

I've only had 4.00mm so far from what I can tell. The showers have been very hit & miss today, although there are plenty more moving up from the SW right now and through the evening.

Currently strong gusty winds seem to be the going thing with these heavy showers atm, It will be later on when the consistent winds kick in and potentially 60 mph + gusts.

Hi all, supposed to be taking my kids to alton towers tomorrow - each weather website I've checked has a different forecast. No idea what to do - any input?

If you go I would take raincoats. There'll be showery rain at first and a longer spell of rain from about mid-morning through to mid-afternoon before it eventually clears up during the late afternoon. It'll be windy too, gusts around 40-45 mph I would think.

Sunday or Wednesday would be a much better prospect.

We may put it off until Sunday, luckily we have annual passes so no need to book in advance. Wouldn't usually bother this time of year but moshi monsters are there for half term **yawn**

My advice would be to go on Sunday.

It's got a lot windier here in the last 30 minutes or so. Sounds pretty wild down on the south coast.

Winds are the worst they've been all day, really roaring outside.

Highest gust so far today is 45mph. I had a 49mph gust on Wednesday. Wonder if I can hit 50.

The 10 minute wind speed picked up to 26mph which is fairly strong for here and higher than Wednesday.

Same here, XC Weather says for Solihull = 60mph+ gusts during the night, So it seems that it will get windier later.

Must of updated, now showing 56mph gusts!

'Update' .... I must admit no delay in the proceedings, Some good old gusts going on out there atm.

Just had a prolonged large/borderline-violent gust... thought the kitchen's "mini" extraction fan thing was going to blow out the wall... it's definitely getting stronger outside.

It sounds pretty terrifying out there right now! Extraordinary gusts in the past forty five minutes, the strongest of the winter so far Posted Image
